jbmia Posted December 9, 2016 Share #41 Posted December 9, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB 95 MB/s FAT: 2.5 - 3 seconds to shutter open exFAT: ~1.5 seconds to shutter open I initially went down to about 2 seconds with an allocation unit size of 32kb.. I tried 64kb and 128kb and it seemed to go a bit quicker.. averaging about 1.5 seconds... Anyone have any thoughts on how the allocation unit size setting could affect speed.. storage? Advertisement Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Hi jbmia, Take a look here Leica M240 & Co: Quicker Startup by exFAT Format?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted December 9, 2016 Share #42 Posted December 9, 2016 Did you use a stopwatch folks? Was impossible to go significantly below 2s in the extensive tests i've done a couple of years ago and bigger cards than 64K proved hardly faster since then. BTW FAT/exFat is not an issue with SD Formatter. FWIW.
