C1 Mac question...help

I just started using C1 on the Mac. I have used it on the PC but the interface and functionality appear to be different (at least to my memory). When I make changes like sharpening or noise reduction it only shows in the small previw window and not on the main edit (large) image window in the middle. How do you get the changes to apply to the entire preview window so you can see the results? I can save a tiff with the changes and then preview the tiff but that is way too many steps. I can't even see a difference if I change camear profiles. On the Windows version I could. What am I doing wrong or is the Mac version not very good?

I can't help, except to say that after a couple of days with it I was beginning to think of giving up photography - fortunately I was rescued by aperture - and if you don't like the hack, then Lightroom isn't bad either!

I'm still waiting on a version that supports the Digilux 3 --- I don't own the M8.

You may want to post your question on the Phase One support forum --- you're probably more likely to get an answer there.

Does no response mean no one uses C1 or that they haven't figured out a solution either?

I have used it off and on for years but don't like it.

When I bought a M8 I switched to Aperture and never looked back. Aperture has all the functionality I need and is very easy to use. The hack is simple.

I'm wondering if you folks using Aperture think its better that PSCS3? I'm currently using PSCS, and just purchased the CS3 upgrade for my PC. I'm tinkering with the idea of a MAC in the future but I seem to read about constant issues on this forum surrounding the MAC. I shoot with a Canon 5D and Leica M8 (mostly M8).

John, as far as I know this is standard for the Mac version and is why I dislike it so heartily. The main preview window is just that: a preview. You can't even tell when the zoom is at 100%. It's pathetic! It does, however, show changes to white balance and curves etc, which can be rendered quickly. Sharpening and NR are different.

BUT there is a saving grace. Go to Window>Show Focus Utility and another window will pop up which shows a correctly rendered preview at whichever size you like. Clutzy but it's there!

Best

Tim
