thomasvr71 Posted November 22, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted November 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm using the SL with the Noctilux. As regards the focus peaking, in the menu/live view i turned it on but using the MF with the Noctilux i'm not able to see the red lines. Have you the same problem? Can you indicate me how i can solve this matter? Thank you, Thomas
Advertisement Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Hi thomasvr71, Take a look here Focus peaking with M lens.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
satijntje Posted November 22, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted November 22, 2015 Which Noctilux do you use? 1.0 or 0.95? J
Flu Posted November 22, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted November 22, 2015 Of the 4 soft buttons, the bottom right is the info button that can scroll between a level, histo, none, and eventually focus peaking. Try cycling through the modes with the info button until you are on the focus peaking mode and it should work. Hope that helps.

satijntje Posted November 22, 2015 Share #6 Â Posted November 22, 2015 FP on the 1.0 is weak. 0.95 is a much sharper lens and consequently FP will be better. Good luck, and please post some images with SL+0.95. Â John

Fulgido Posted December 12, 2015 Share #8  Posted December 12, 2015 Noctilux it's quite easy and fast to be used on sl, in particular if you shot in b+w with focus peaking, it's a pleasure also becouse weight and size of noctilux are perfect for sl body. Actually magnification it's a little bit uncomfortable but some rumors says that in future it will be better  FT
kaikeong Posted January 6, 2016 Share #9 Â Posted January 6, 2016 I think the subject you are shooting needs to be quite high contrast. I did shots in a room with little contrast and no red focus peaking lines can be seen and when I took the shots outdoor with plenty of sunlight, the lines came out. Â Â Cheers
Visionhu Posted January 8, 2016 Share #10 Â Posted January 8, 2016 I'm using the SL with my manual M lenses, just couldn't figure out if we have an automatic magnifying feature like the M240 (automatic focus aid)? Â Chris.
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 8, 2016 Share #11  Posted January 8, 2016 I'm using the SL with my manual M lenses, just couldn't figure out if we have an automatic magnifying feature like the M240 (automatic focus aid)?  Chris. There's a better one.  Make sure that you are running firmware 1.2 and then when in capture mode, just push the joystick to magnify, move it around to see different parts of the image.  Half press on the shutter button gets you out. There are several options for magnification in review mode, also moving around.  scott

I'll just keep using the soft button then.  Chris.
Leicaiste Posted January 8, 2016 Share #14 Â Posted January 8, 2016 Thanks, that's what I thought. I'll just keep using the soft button then. Â Â Anyway the soft button on the SL is much more user friendly IMHO than the front button on the M 240.
Visionhu Posted January 8, 2016 Share #15  Posted January 8, 2016 Anyway the soft button on the SL is much more user friendly IMHO than the front button on the M 240. Absolutely. I tried the focus point joystick, that's magnifies to 100% – that's a bit too much sometimes.

I tried the focus point joystick, that's magnifies to 100% – that's a bit too much sometimes.   It's convenient for shorter lenses. For longer lenses, I use the BL button and choose the medium magnification setting.
jdfloresjr Posted February 22, 2017 Share #17 Â Posted February 22, 2017 My SL/Nocti combo worked well with focus peaking on firmware 1.2. Â Last night I upgraded to V 2.2 and have gone through the menu system a few times but could not activate peaking for some reason. Â I went to captive assistant/focus peaking/color red/sensitivity high, manual focus aid on. Â Tried low sensitivity and focus aid OFF but no response from the sensor. Â Any ideas out there? Â Help! Look for the focus peaking symbol to confirm that it's been activated.
jdfloresjr Posted April 2, 2017 Share #19  Posted April 2, 2017 It worked!  Belated thanks for the tip.  Now if only there was an SL Extended Guide  like on the M240, it would clarify a lot of trivial questions.
LD_50 Posted April 2, 2017 Share #20 Â Posted April 2, 2017 It worked! Belated thanks for the tip. Now if only there was an SL Extended Guide like on the M240, it would clarify a lot of trivial questions. Â Page 182 of the English manual states you should press the BR button to cycle through display modes. It then lists and explains those modes. Page 184 explains focus peaking and shows the icon that will be displayed when it's on. This is a pretty straightforward explanation that should answer these questions.
