Focus peaking with M lens.

Of the 4 soft buttons, the bottom right is the info button that can scroll between a level, histo, none, and eventually focus peaking. Try cycling through the modes with the info button until you are on the focus peaking mode and it should work. Hope that helps.

Noctilux it's quite easy and fast to be used on sl, in particular if you shot in b+w with focus peaking, it's a pleasure also becouse weight and size of noctilux are perfect for sl body.

Actually magnification it's a little bit uncomfortable but some rumors says that in future it will be better

I think the subject you are shooting needs to be quite high contrast. I did shots in a room with little contrast and no red focus peaking lines can be seen and when I took the shots outdoor with plenty of sunlight, the lines came out.

I'm using the SL with my manual M lenses, just couldn't figure out if we have an automatic magnifying feature like the M240 (automatic focus aid)?

Chris.

There's a better one.  Make sure that you are running firmware 1.2 and then when in capture mode, just push the joystick to magnify, move it around to see different parts of the image.  Half press on the shutter button gets you out. There are several options for magnification in review mode, also moving around.

We don't because there is no rangefinder cam on the SL plus M adapter T to inform the camera of the movement of the focusing ring.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'll just keep using the soft button then.

Anyway the soft button on the SL is much more user friendly IMHO than the front button on the M 240.

Absolutely. I tried the focus point joystick, that's magnifies to 100% – that's a bit too much sometimes.

It's convenient for shorter lenses. For longer lenses, I use the BL button and choose the medium magnification setting.

My SL/Nocti combo worked well with focus peaking on firmware 1.2.  Last night I upgraded to V 2.2 and have gone through the

menu system a few times but could not activate peaking for some reason.  I went to captive assistant/focus peaking/color red/sensitivity high,

manual focus aid on.  Tried low sensitivity and focus aid OFF but no response from the sensor.

Any ideas out there?  Help!

Try pressing BR - bottom right button to cycle through different modes and you should be able to activate focus peaking. Look for the focus peaking symbol to confirm that it's been activated.

It worked! Belated thanks for the tip. Now if only there was an SL Extended Guide like on the M240, it would clarify a lot of trivial questions.

Page 182 of the English manual states you should press the BR button to cycle through display modes. It then lists and explains those modes. Page 184 explains focus peaking and shows the icon that will be displayed when it's on. This is a pretty straightforward explanation that should answer these questions.
