And how fortunate as well that the background figure is in tonal harmony with the exterior part of the photo. One element that would stunningly improve this photo would be a figure in the interior, rushing up, or better yet down the stairs. A 1/60 or 1/30 shutter would give good blur on a rapidly moving person. And if that person were clad in dark warm tones ... But this is beautifully observed and executed as is.
