Guest jvansmit Posted November 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know what an .MDT file extension is ? My Q locked up at the weekend so I pulled the battery, and then noticed I had a black image numbered L1070001.MDT. It wouldn't load into Lightroom, and the Q's delete function wouldn't allow deletion. It disappeared OK when I formatted, Welcome, dear visitor! lucerne Posted November 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2015 A quick internet search reveals that .mdt files are video files generated by certain Panasonic G models. That would make sense since the Q probably has bits of software from the Leica / Panasonic partnership. You may have been in video mode accidentally at some time so that may be a valid reason why your Q unexpectedly created the file or it may have been the result of a recovery feature during a system lock-up. I might assume that Panasonic users are provided with software to view and edit these files.
pop Posted November 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2015 Is there any chance of your having pressed the video recording button?

lucerne Posted November 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2015 Actually, we should have asked you if the sdcard had ever been used in a Panasonic camera. The file could have been a leftover from previous activity and the delete function on the Q would have ignored it's presence.
Francesca Posted July 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2017 I was recording some videos and one of them (one out of 10) I cannot see because it an MDT file. Its unfortunate because it was the one that I needed. Does anyone know why it happened?
jaapv Posted July 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) From Panasonic's website: The damaged files cannot be opened because recording did terminate abruptly: While the media (video and audio) is present and not corrupt, the index and header of the movie indicating what the data means, is not present. Repair consists in reindexing the movie. A program like Divfix or VirtualDub should be able to do the reindexing.
