Peter Walker Posted November 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today, in Singapore, I collected my Leica SL and 24-90 lens, exactly two weeks after placing the pre-order. Battery is now on the charger and, if it stops raining, I might test it tonight with Christmas lights in Orchard Road. Regards Peter

wlaidlaw Posted November 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted November 16, 2015 As a matter of interest, was the hood included with the 24-90 or did you have to buy that as an extra? Thanks Wilson

LocalHero1953 Posted November 16, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 16, 2015 Hi Jono - is the firmware any different in the retail version from what you saw earlier? (Sadly, I'm going to have to wait a bit - only 2 delivered to Red Dot this week
Peter Walker Posted November 16, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted November 16, 2015 Hi Jono - is the firmware any different in the retail version from what you saw earlier? One thing I noticed differently from demo model I played with 2 weeks ago was at least one extra button customization. You can now assign the long-press on any of the 6 buttons to "Load User Profile". I like this feature a lot as I use the user profiles to get myself back to a "known state" after I've been fiddling with settings on the fly. I have all four user profiles set to different shooting styles: Single, Continuous, Manual and Video. I have assigned "Load User Profile" to the LV button. Tonight I used it to change shooting styles and to get back to a base state. Very useful.

Peter Walker Posted November 16, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted November 16, 2015 I received everything I ordered except the second battery. Might need to wait a couple of weeks for that. But the SL seems to manage its power consumption well.

ramarren Posted November 16, 2015 Share #18 Posted November 16, 2015 HI There So different! I have top left set to ISO bottom left set to WB top right set to exposure compensation bottom right set to Load Lens Profiles Front function button set to Exposure mode Ah, this will be fun then. I figured it might diverge somewhat from what was in the manual and available on the demo model last week.

Peter Walker Posted November 16, 2015 Author Share #20 Posted November 16, 2015 HI There So different! I have top left set to ISO bottom left set to WB top right set to exposure compensation bottom right set to Load Lens Profiles Front function button set to Exposure mode Well, we have one common preference. Buttons (long press): - TL: Focus Mode - BL: AF Mode - TR: Exposure Compensation - BR: ISO - LV: Load User Profile - FN: Drive Mode User Profile: 1. Photo - Single (A, 100 ISO, AFs) 2. Photo - Continuous (P, Auto ISO, AFc) 3. Photo - Manual (M, ISO 100, MF, Peaking) 4. Video (T, 1/50, Auto ISO, AFs) I suspect that, over time, I'll find some of these less useful and will refine them into a permanent set.
