wattsy Posted November 11, 2015 Share #41 Posted November 11, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting. Can't check my 2011 MP at the moment as it has a film in. Out of curiosity I just looked at my M7 (Ser No. 39995xx, supplied new by Wetzlar this year) and the pressure plate has the four screws... The OP's MP also has this style of pressure plate. My 2011 MP has the screws. I assume my M-A bodies do too but they have film in so can't check at the moment.
Advertisement Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hi wattsy, Take a look here Dark stripes on negatives on a new MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AAK Posted November 11, 2015 Share #42 Posted November 11, 2015 My 2011 MP has the screws. I assume my M-A bodies do too but they have film in so can't check at the moment. I can confirm that the M-A (at least mine) has the same 4 recessed screw holes and screws as the MP. It doesn't have the contacts for the ISO setting dial. The dial on the back of the M-A is just a reminder of the speed of the film that's loaded and whether it's B&W or color.
indergaard Posted November 12, 2015 Author Share #43 Posted November 12, 2015 After a lot of back and forth with Leica CS I was told to send the camera in for service. I sent a lot of pictures to them, and apparently a technician had looked at the pictures and could not understand why there were scratches on the shutter curtain and other parts inside the camera. They needed to look at the camera physically to be able to give feedback. I also brought up a couple of other points that I've noticed. 1. The viewfinder is already "full of dust", without the camera seeing a lot of use. Apparently the seal is lacking or poor. 2. The shutter button needs to be depressed VERY deeply to fire. Sometimes it doesn't fire at all and requires a 2nd press. Trying out my wife's MP was a revelation to me. The shutter button is so responsive by comparison... I told Leica that all the scratches, deformations and everything else needs to be fixed and adjusted, or the camera needs to be replaced. Hopefully I won't have to go several rounds with this one like I have in the past with other camera bodies...
earleygallery Posted November 12, 2015 Share #44 Posted November 12, 2015 It's still under warranty (being purchased in March) so I am sure they will repair everything. Let us know the outcome, it's a mysterious fault!
