jaapv Posted November 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2015 It would be surprising if not.
earleygallery Posted November 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 5, 2015 I agree it would be surprising if Leica continue to send out new M cameras with the 'old' sensor which is likely to mean a return at some point and repair (replacement) by Leica. But who knows? As not all sensors have shown corrossion maybe they take the view that they are happy to live with an X% return rate and will still use up the stock of old sensors. Also it depends on how long the camera has been in stock at the dealer - if it's been sitting on their shelves for a few months it's certainly got the old sensor. Ulitmately why worry too much - Leica will replace faulty sensors FOC, but yes there is the inconvenience of returning the camera I guess.
wattsy Posted November 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2015 Yes, I think it would be very unlikely unless the M-E was manufactured during the last month or so. As far as I know, these cameras are made in batches and it is quite possible that the most recent stock was manufactured quite some time ago (I'm not sure the date on the box, as per the current practice of Leica, is that reliable an indicator of when the camera contained within was actually manufactured as opposed to packed and put into the system). My best guess is that all M-E bodies in dealer stock have the old sensor inside.

Yes I think that's reasonable Which is why I was interested in either a serial number (probably wouldn't be disclosed for some time after) or someone who has bought a new M-E with some communication from Leica that it has the new sensor
