Kamera Klutter Posted October 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm traveling and hoping to fix this problem without sending my new Q back to NJ. I had a problem inserting the Leica battery but the camera turned on. When I attempted to remove the battery, it wouldn't budge. There is some wiggle room, but even pressing the release latch as the camera is upside down won't help (even with mild shaking). I called Leica and they said the battery may have swelled. I think the spring may be the culprit. I don't want to mess too much with this, but if anyone has a suggestion, I'd be most grateful. I'll be on the road for two weeks and looked forward to testing out my new Q.
Advertisement Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Hi Kamera Klutter, Take a look here Leica Q battery stuck--can anyone help?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mr.Q Posted October 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2015 Perhaps you could try using double-sided tape (industrial strength) and pull it out. If that doesn't work, try a stronger adhesive (ie superglue)
Photon42 Posted October 27, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2015 sounds like good advise

Maybe something like bluetack called also do the job
rpopescu Posted October 29, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 29, 2015 What's the status on this one?
Kamera Klutter Posted October 29, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted October 29, 2015 I was just able to purchase Gorilla nonstick tape (for 10-pound use) in my travels. The problem is, how do I remove the tape from the battery once I pull it out? Sounds like there could be an issue with that.
lucerne Posted October 29, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 29, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you got the battery out. Worry about the residue fixing later. Can you see why the battery became stuck. Perhaps you'll need to scrape the residue off.
pop Posted October 29, 2015 Share #8 Posted October 29, 2015 If the battery has grown in girth, I would not recommend using it again.

lucerne Posted October 29, 2015 Share #10 Posted October 29, 2015 I don't think we are getting any useful response from the OP. The problem has been reviewed here on the forum and the owner should be able to work out what to do next. It's under warranty and must have been supplied by an authorised distributor. As an interim solution, substitute batteries are readily available and the faulty battery would be replaced by the supplier, although there may be a fault on the body that causes the battery to be tight. Either use the camera with a new battery until the dealer gets a replacement or return and reject the whole unit. It's time for common sense and practical decisions from the OP! Kamera Klutter Posted October 31, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted October 31, 2015 I found a good camera store in Moab, Utah, and we used double stick tape to finally remove the battery, after much effort. It turns out that the Leica expert at the pro shop where I bought the camera sold me the wrong battery--a LUMIX DMW-BLG10PP, that when inspected is obviously different than the factory Leica battery. I bought it as a backup battery, but never expected an expert to be so wrong. I thank everybody for taking the time to help me and apologize for the delay in getting back. I'm traveling with very little WiFi service at my disposal. The double stick tape worked when the tweezers did not. So you guys helped me a lot! And, yes, the shop that sold the battery to me is a Leica authorized dealer!

I'm sure we are all relieved to hear your report and astonished to learn that a dealer sold and fitted a non-Leica battery. By now I'm sure you know that the alternative is the easily available type BLC12. Hope you are now enjoying your Q and that you experience no more problems.
