Traded the 50mm Summarit that came with the M9 for a 28mm Elmarit. I was missing that focal on the M9 and thought it could be a good starting point. I was not expecting this lens to be that good. Sharpness and contrast are amazing!

For 2 days now, I've been using for my "DeConstructing Beirut" project (http://www.rodriguezahr.com/work#/deconstructing-beirut/).

Yesterday I was able to take my first street action shot with it and I missed the framing big time :-)

will need a couple of days to get used to it.

Rodrigue,

this picture is excellent in framing and all the other parameters.

With the 28 mm you can show more of the whole story. It is my favourite focal length. That is why I am waiting so eagerly for my "Q". Keep going, you'll see the whole cosmos new.

Indeed Iduna. The 28 is my favorite focal too. Always set on the XV and now on the M.

By "missed framing" I meant the shopping if the man in the right lower corner, who was watching the action.

A wonderful B/W shot!... Did you make much distortion correction?... I have used 28 mm with FF ( Film cameras, actually), but not much with people. Now, with my APS-C sensor, it is becoming perfect for street shooting!

Not at all Louis. This little lens is a marvel

Wonderful shot!

I thought that I had all the lenses I needed for my M. But know you got me thinking. Maybe I do need a 28mm to complement my 35 and 21.  :D

I've always considered myself a 35mm photographer, for the M, I first bought a 35 then the 50 but then, I recently discovered that since I got the XVario 2 years ago, the focal I'm using the most is the 28! So I decided to get it for the M and now I hardly take it out! I'm definitely gonna see my 35 and keep a 28 50 for now.

I was wrong after all, I'm a native fully engaged 28mm shooter :-)

Yup, me too. All I have left is the tiger paw 50 'cron (great lens) on the M3 and the 28mm Q.

Life is sooooo much simpler (and lighter) now.  :)

Rodrigue,

The man makes the scenario very cinematic and belongs to the comnposition because he represents the viewer. With the 35 mm you would have definately missed it.

Thanks Iduna, and you're right about the man looking, and that's why I regret not having him completely inside the frame :-(. Talking bout cinematic look, have a look at the color version :-)

I have a 50mm as well. Maybe I should consider replacing the 35 with a 28. :)

I think the b&w is terrific, and it is obviously a good lens in your capable hands. Maybe pull in a little diagonally from the top right corner to lose the man?

Gerry

That chopped man is what I regret the most about this picture. i feel so bad for that framing mistake. his presence looking at the action is amazing. too bad I shopped it.
