B-stand Posted September 20, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi. Is there any setting to get the Q to remember and use the same focus point as when you turned off the camera?
Advertisement Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Hi B-stand, Take a look here Remember the last used focus point?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

B-stand Posted September 20, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted September 20, 2015 MF? Anyone with a serious answer? ( I get help via lots of photography forums but you get the same amount of people that answers something completely different then my question. Why is that?) enQuirer Posted September 20, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2015 Not as far as I have been able to find, just like yourself. However, as it is so simple and fast to move the focus box it is not an issue for me. Besides, sometimes it is disadvantagous to have that facility as it could have been left set to an extreme position!
earleygallery Posted September 20, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 20, 2015 Anyone with a serious answer? ( I get help via lots of photography forums but you get the same amount of people that answers something completely different then my question. Why is that?) Excuse me. That was a serious response, surely the easiest solution to your 'problem'. Off to the ignore list with you!
B-stand Posted September 21, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted September 21, 2015 Excuse me. That was a serious response, surely the easiest solution to your 'problem'. Off to the ignore list with you! No worries, you are excused. It´s just when I ask a question about a AF "problem" then you must understand that I´m looking for a solution that also involves AF and not MF. jdevos Posted September 21, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) AF is inherently variable. It only stays fixed when pressing the shutter release button halfway down or the thumb button when configured to do this (i.c. fixing focus point). So, AFAIK MF is the only way to do this and rightly so. Probably needs a bit of power tape, though.
kkonkkrete Posted September 21, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 21, 2015 This is actually one of the drawbacks of having MF at the end of the AF travel. On most cameras you can set focus with AF, then flick a switch to MF, which 'saves' the focus distance for as long as you want. That's not the same as the AF focus point, of course. jaapv Posted September 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 21, 2015 In an AF situation, what would be the advantage? Careful focusing, as James noted, is better done using MF, and in a dynamic situation where AF can be helpful, the focus point is unlikely to remain in the same spot between shots. B-stand Posted September 23, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted September 23, 2015 Basicly all my pictures are composed with a focus in the upper focus row from the center. That´s why I wanted another default focus point then the center one when turning the camera on. But thanks for all the answers. B
