Lens adapter R to M

I use the Leica (14642) between the M and Telyt-R 280/f4. It is beautifully machined, built like a tank, and locks with perfect stability to both the camera and the lens. I know the price is crazy but I wouldn't dream of using anything other than the Leica adapter given the value of the equipment on either side of it.  In this case I think you get what you pay for...

While not actually relevant to your question, I have recently begun experimenting with adapting my old manual focus Nikon glass to the M240 M-P.  I have been using a cheap Fotodiox adapter that I paid $29 for and also a  more expensive Novaflex adapter.  I am supprised to report liking the cheap adapter more.

I barely use my R lenses, which is a pity.

What if I go for the K&F Konzept adapter instead of costly Leica proposal ?

Me too, R lenses didn't work for me and I purchased a cheap adapter for the one lens I didn't sell.  The adapter is coded with a sharpie and works fine for it's infrequent use.

With generic adapters the quality is an unknown and coding may or may not work, otoh buying any adapter including the best by Leica and Novoflex doesn't insure image quality, precise alignment isn't guaranteed.

I would spend the money and get the Leica brand adaptor.  I agree with previous posters that the Leica adaptor is built extremely well.

Further, I learned my lesson with the A7r when it comes to the  importance of adaptors and mounts.  The cheap adaptor I got was sloppy on the A7r and the Sony A7r mount was pretty crappy all on its own compared to the new higher tolerance mount on the M240.

Adaptors and mounts are very important to image quality and worth the investment unless, you just want to shoot a particular R lens once in a while and need something cheap to make it happen.

We waited a long time for the R-M Adaptor (over a year?) and once it became available most here raved about the precision and quality.

The coding on the Novoflex adapter is licensed from Leica. I'm sure Leica would not do that if there were any doubt about the quality of the adapter. Novoflex and Leica have a good relationship historically with Novoflex and Leica cooperating for certain telelenses, Leica providing the glass and Novoflex the mount. For instance the Noflexar 400-T had a lens provided by Leica, the mount was made by Novoflex and the lens was assembled by Agfa. I would not worry about a simple adapter.

I have the Novoflex and Leica (current, not the old Leicina one).    The advantage of the Leica adapter is the integrated tripod collar which allows mounting closer to the rig's center of gravity.  The disadvantage of the Leica adapter is a thicker internal baffle that vignettes with certain lenses, in particular my 400/6.8 Telyt-V w/14167.  Major vignetting with the Leica adapter, to the point I find it unusable.  Almost nil with the Novoflex.  I have no idea if there are any other lenses which this problem affects.

The problem with cheap adaptors is that they seldom seem to allow correct alignment of e.g. shift lenses . I bought a well known brand OM to M adaptor in order to use an Olympus OM 35mm shift lens on my T … but when fitted the lens' shift axes were out of alignment … I then bought a Novoflex OM to M adaptor at considerably more cost but alignment was then perfect  … and there was no looseness or slop.
