prk60091 Posted September 12, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been pricing the B+W Kaesemann circular nano filter. My question can this or any circular polarizer work with the lens hood attached? The AF of the Q is one of reasons I bought it, can I use a linear polarizer,? If so any recommendations? thanks in advance --paul
Advertisement Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hi prk60091, Take a look here How will a circular polarizer work with Q lens hood?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2015 I don't think the Q should need a circular polarizer. Check the specifications and/or ask Leica.

So far so good, now try to turn the pol filter in the right position with the hood attached, that sucks! The lens hood is beautiful but not made for real life use, at least not with a filter. screwmount Posted September 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 14, 2015 Buy a rubber lenshood which you put on the pol filter. In the past many pol filters had fixed mounted hoods (eg. the one offered by Leitz for the M) @jaapv: circular pols are only necessary for cameras with light splitting paths. Therefore Q can take any kind.....
jaapv Posted September 14, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Exactly, although 01AF has shown that linear ones may have a small effect on reflective type exposure measuring like the M. I don't know about AF systems that depend on contrast measuring.
wacka Posted September 15, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2015 I just printed a round hood, but in all honesty since it's a hassle to use with filters I'm usually shooting without the hood.
