Advertisement Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Hi hawk.kat, Take a look here Previous camera before Q. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mr.Q Posted September 11, 2015 Share #22 Posted September 11, 2015 A lot of (former) RX1 owners. I'm not surprised. The Q seems to address many of the issues on this camera. I have the RX1R myself and would probably switch, if the two cameras were the same size. As is, I would like to have them both. For all intent and purposes, their size is very similar. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/89718407@N06/21063928208/

sturkel Posted September 11, 2015 Share #26 Posted September 11, 2015 Speaking for myself, I think the Q is serving as a Leica gateway for less serious/experienced photographers (or vice versa). So this is what I am thinking. The cost to get into a FF camera is less these days , and there are some very good cameras out there. Leica can sit on the sidelines or decide to have a presence in the new emerging FF market. The Q fits perfect in this arena. The brand name and new price points will bring many new Leica customers to the fold. Bravo to Leica for making the steps needed to bring new customers. Smoothlander Posted September 11, 2015 Share #27 Posted September 11, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Canon 5DMarkIII which I'm keeping. I'm getting the Q for having with me most of the time. Once I started learning about the Q, I toyed with the idea of the M240 but decided to start w/the Q. I am new to Leica and can't believe some of the fantastic images people are posting on this forum. Please Mr. Postman, deliver a Q to me today. dancook Posted September 11, 2015 Share #28 Posted September 11, 2015 Personally, I didn't buy the Q because it was Leica. I bought it because technically it was the closest to everything I want in a street/travel camera.
ricky1981 Posted September 11, 2015 Share #29 Posted September 11, 2015 Personally, I didn't buy the Q because it was Leica. I bought it because technically it was the closest to everything I want in a street/travel camera. Same for me, I loved the images from the RX1 but the handling and AF got in the way. I loved the handling of the X100 but the image quality got worse as the AF improved. I'm no stranger to "quirky" cameras, I have the Sigma DP2 Merrill which is awesome and terrible at the same time, but I hope the Q will make a perfect travel/walkabout camera. The fact that it is a Leica is a bonus i guess (since I haven't got one) but I'd have bought it whatever the brand.
ricky1981 Posted September 11, 2015 Share #30 Posted September 11, 2015 For all intent and purposes, their size is very similar. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/89718407@N06/21063928208/ I think the Q is quite a bit larger - http://leicarumors.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/L1008648.jpg I will miss the fact the RX1 could fit in a jacket pocket but I think the extra size of the Q will translate to much better handling and that is more important (for me). Masklin Posted September 12, 2015 Share #32 Posted September 12, 2015 Immediately preceding, a T, traded in for the Q. Didn't really get on with the T it must be said, loving the Q though.
piran Posted September 12, 2015 Share #33 Posted September 12, 2015 Personally, I didn't buy the Q because it was Leica. I bought it because technically it was the closest to everything I want in a street/travel camera. Still using my old Canon 1DsIII 70-200mm f2.8 L kit. The Q was the closest Leica to everything I wanted in a street/travel camera. Not perfect but the closest.
microview Posted September 12, 2015 Share #34 Posted September 12, 2015 Much better than the Q, which I have found rather disappointing. Would you like to elaborate for those hesitating on the brink of placing an order?
TK! Posted September 12, 2015 Share #35 Posted September 12, 2015 Sony W11 (great in those days), Ricoh Caplio GX100 (unbelievably noisy but learned me the basics of aperture, exposure time, and ISO), D-Lux 3 (was fun, especially the 20mm(?), X1 (my first real camera; still great today but not a finished product), X2 (still great today but not more than a finished X1 two years to late), X (increase in lens performance does not justify increase in size compared to the X2) (The Q is just unbelievable but no longer a pocket camera) - TK
-Lss- Posted September 14, 2015 Share #36 Posted September 14, 2015 For all intent and purposes, their size is very similar. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/89718407@N06/21063928208/ No, not for all purposes. One significant exception being my purposes. Generally speaking, I actually find the size difference significant when discussing compact cameras, and this difference remains even when one puts a case on the Sony. This is based on specifications and various comparison tools. I have actually never seen or handled the Q as much as I would like to have.

derribos Posted September 15, 2015 Share #38 Posted September 15, 2015 A joy to use. I come from the Fuji's X100 (100S sold, 100T kept) and XT1 (for concerts) and RX1 (kept). I recently join the Leica family with the M240 and later the Q arrives just 2 days before my kid born and it's "his" camera. Before an insane amount of compact cameras bought until I read a little more before buying the new stuff. Most I kept because the money I could get from them is ridiculous. In any case, the Q is a joy to do pictures only with the light of a small lamp when he's sleeping. Even a 12.500 looked great!!
