cwmalan Posted September 23, 2015 Share #21 Posted September 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Both of my M240s needed RF adjustment back in the spring. Leica in London would not lend me a replacement and quoted 6 to 8 weeks to send them to Germany. So I ended up sending one to Germany, and took the other to Aperture UK, which is an excellent shop, but not an authorised Leica dealer. Their charming and knowledge on site repair man sorted out the other one on the same day for £150. I was happy to pay that, even though it was still under warranty, just so I wouldn't be without an M for two months....
Advertisement Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Hi cwmalan, Take a look here RF calibration. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M9reno Posted September 23, 2015 Share #22 Posted September 23, 2015 It was such a drawn-out pain in the a** to have my M240 done this summer that, now it's back, I'm rather inhibited about using it. Unconsciously feels a bit like handling egg-shells. Something is not right in this picture!
Cliff S Posted September 23, 2015 Share #23 Posted September 23, 2015 Try the basic calibration for distance yourself next time. It's easy but tedious. Just focus on a far object with LV and RF and rotate the screw with a 2mm wrench a very small amount and check focus again. Repeat until you figure out both which way to rotate and how much you're out. Took me 45 minutes and my M is tack sharp using RF.
jaapv Posted September 24, 2015 Share #24 Posted September 24, 2015 Or send it to Will van Manen and have it back within the week...
