Hi,

you wrote 3k GBP, so i understood 3000 GBP which is 4116 EUR. So 5000 EUR is more than 4116 EUR. Maybe you should buy in London and if buy a new Leica S, they should give you

more. Or you try ebay.com.

Best Regards,

Moritz

You could wait to see what Leica is releasing later this year ...

As for selling your black paint kit, go onto eBay and see if there are comparable cameras for sale.  Also, have a look at Westlicht and the other specialty camera auction companies and see what they have and what prices they are generally getting - that will give you a good idea.

You could sell here in the Classifieds, or contact the auction companies and see what they say.

The S(007) looks like a fabulous camera, but it's huge and expensive.  Something smaller might get more use ...

Moritz - they sat 5000 euros - which is much lower than twice what the dealer in London offered me. Any other thoughts, please? I'm a bit of a beginner at this. Where's the best and safest place to buy one in terms of price etc.?

In February I sold my M6 BP TTL Lsha with the BP Summilux non-Asph lens for US$7,900. It was the private sale in Russia.

pd100,

I've done a significant amount of documentation work to include documenting artwork, some of which has appeared in publications.  Some thoughts for you to consider if photographic fidelity is important:

  1. lens color fidelity and aberration correction
  2. lens flatness of field - i.e.: macro lens 90mm (you will need to work at a distance in order to produce even lighting across the artwork)
  3. shutter vibration, shutter release options, remote release options
  4. sensor color fidelity and resolution for up to at least 16X20 reproduction.  Consider that all of your artwork may not fall into the normal 3:2 camera format and enlargement might be necessary to fill a certain  publication format.
  5. flash synchronization capabilities
  6. full manual capability
  7. multiple strobes using remote on-camera trigger and modeling light capability
  8. optical view finder for the best setup verification

Personally, I've only used Hasselblads and Leica SLRs with macro lenses for the task.  In the lab I was using Sinar view cameras.

B/r, John

pd100,

Some other ancillary things to consider;

  1. heavy tripod
  2. soft-boxes for the strobes
  3. magnification capability for the viewfinder
  4. remote connectivity to a computer for critical viewing of the digital image
  5. flash meter for balancing the strobes
  6. RAW/DNG output from the camera
