Advertisement Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Hi asiafish, Take a look here New Leica x-u typ113. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Trivette Posted September 10, 2015 Share #22 Â Posted September 10, 2015 It would be great to have a 50mm X, preferably with a Summicron or even an Elmar, but it seems unlikely.

Yes, that would be great. Â A 35 Summicron (equivalent to 50 Summicron) would be about the same size as the current 23 Summilux (35 equivalent) we know and love on the X. Â While that would be my first choice and I would prefer it over the current model, I doubt that I would bother as I already own the X and X Vario, and other than shallow depth of field the X Vario's zoom lens at the 50mm is absolute perfection. Trivette Posted September 11, 2015 Share #24 Â Posted September 11, 2015 I keep forgetting that it's APS-C.
Hazesus Posted September 19, 2015 Share #25  Posted September 19, 2015 I predict a 35mm F2.4 Full frame, on a leica X 113 shell (none interchangeable). Leica mentioned they needed a camera to bridge with their other lines and fill in gaps in the market M, Q and  T.  People who liked the Q are asking for 35mm version or 50mm. but who knows maybe it could be a 40mm, 43mm F2. Technology is moving so fast any prediction could come out sooner than later, but the name says it all X-U. Leica now needs a bridge camera to connect with the T line.
Trivette Posted September 20, 2015 Share #26  Posted September 20, 2015 I should think they might want to keep the price down on an X series camera: perhaps foregoing a full frame in the interest of reducing cost of the sensor and associated optics. I would go for a 40 or 50mm version of the X, but f/2 or even a bit smaller aperture would be sufficient for my needs.

How much different from an X (Typ 113) can an X-U (Typ 113) be when they don’t even change the Typ number?

I would go for a 40 or 50mm version of the X, but f/2 or even a bit smaller aperture would be sufficient for my needs.  40mm would be pointless with the current model at 35mm.  50mm is a possibility on the same body, but Leica hasn't done anything like that before, ie., different focal length versions of the same body unless you count the X as a different focal length version of the X Vario, but those were different (typ) number.  I'd bet money it will be the same X113 we know and love, but either with a cosmetic difference or minor spec upgrade such as wifi, touchscreen or some other feature change without a change to the basic body. freitz Posted September 27, 2015 Share #29 Â Posted September 27, 2015 Any new developments with this rumor. Seems the other rumored cameras have people more excited. Â I hope its a 24-70 2.0 lens on it. Call it a day.

wda Posted September 28, 2015 Share #32 Â Posted September 28, 2015 I predict a 35mm F2.4 Full frame, on a leica X 113 shell (none interchangeable)..... But that would no longer be an X camera. You have moved up to the Q line.

freitz Posted September 28, 2015 Share #34 Â Posted September 28, 2015 of course you know better than Peter Karbe who designed the X Vario's lens. Â Never said that I did. No need for the added BS.
asiafish Posted September 28, 2015 Share #35 Â Posted September 28, 2015 Never said that I did. No need for the added BS. Peter Karbe discussed the design limitations with the X Vario (28-70, not even 24-70) and made it very clear that a faster aperture would result in both much more weight and much higher cost to maintain the same optical quality. Â So are you saying you would rather have poor optical quality then? Â I trust Peter Karbe's description far more than talk on internet forums. Â I own an X Vario and the lens is exceptionally sharp at all distances, focal lengths and apertures, but it is slow. Â Everyone wants more speed, and the answer to that is either cost and size or performance. Â I too am often frustrated by the X Vario's slow lens, which is why I also own the X113 for its f/1.7 with similar quality, albeit in a fixed focal length. Â Even Leica cannot violate the laws of physics.
nikonian Posted September 28, 2015 Share #36 Â Posted September 28, 2015 I think they could do a 2.8 lens without adding to much weight. Â Have a look here:Â http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/zoom/normalzoom/af-s_dx_zoom17-55mmf_28g_if/index.htm That's a lens for APS-C 2.8 / 24-70 equiv. I doubt Leica will be able to make it smaller or lighter. Well, some millimeters shorter, though. Try to put this on an X or Q Body. That'll be ridiculous.
