Hi, I have a Tamron 300mm F2.8 manual focus lens with a Canon Eos Adaptell 2 lens mount. So I am looking to get an adaptor to mount the lens on my Leica M (240). I did a search on the Forum and did not find any recommendations. So here goes.

Novoflex do not seem to do an Eos to Leica M camera version so the best I have found is:

Roxen??? I have never heard of them but cheap.

Kipon, I have heard of them but know very little about them and still cheap.

Has anybody any experience with these adaptors, or know of any better adaptors?

Thanks in advance,

John

I used to use the same solution as Pop with my Tamron Adaptall lenses. Although I've not seen any documentation, I discovered that there are two different Adaptall to Leica R adapters, one fit my R3 just fine, the other didn't (I think it may have been made for the Leicaflex SL); the exterior diameter was slightly too large to fit under the VF overhang. Shouldn't be an issue for you as you would be using it with an R to M adapter,

I use a Tamron 300 f/2.8 with the Adaptall II Canon FD mount, and then use the FD to Leica M mount adapter from Cameraquest. Works perfectly. Novoflex has a similar adapter for FD to M.

The Tamron Adaptall to Leica R adapter might do the trick in combination with a Leica R to M adapter.

Thanks a million. Just to make it a bit harder. The adaptor has been glued to the lens as the locking pin on the lens was not holding the adaptor. I know, I know but was on a shoot at the time and the lens had to work! So I have to work around the Eos adaptor.

I don't know the different Canon mounts. My Tamron came with a Adaptall to FD adapter, so I use the Kipon FD-R/M to use it on my M (Typ 240). Does anyone know if there is a mechanical difference between the EOS and the FD mount?

Yes, they're completely different mount designs, also the FD used a mechanical link and EOS uses electrical contacts.

That sound good. I did find a Kipon Canon Eos to M adapter. How do you fine your Kipon adaptor? Would you recommend it?

Yes, mine works very well. However, it does nothing else for my lens but holding it in place. There is no coupling whatsoever between lens and camera. It's just a mount. I use it with the 500mm mirror lens which is on the heavy side. Given the kind of things I photograph with that I wouldn't notice minor deviations in the mount. I'm not saying it is imprecise, but I say that I wouldn't have noticed if it was, but it looks well made.
