gotium Posted July 31, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted July 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lightroom apparently imports both the Q's DNG and the unwanted JPG files both into the same folder, but only the DNG files appear in the Lightroom interface. Is there a way to prevent the JPG files from getting imported, or can one simply delete them manually, outside the Lightroom interface?
Advertisement Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Hi gotium, Take a look here What to do with the jpg files after Lightroom imports?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jsjxyz Posted July 31, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted July 31, 2015 The way I did is. I sort based on file types. select my chosen dng ones. Then remove all the rest dng. But at the least I have the jpg backups
spylaw4 Posted July 31, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted July 31, 2015 If you are only seeing the dng file in LR you probably have the appropriate Preference box unticked, which is fine as you're editing the dng. Â Why not separate them before Import using Automator and then either delete them or move them to a separate set of files?
thighslapper Posted July 31, 2015 Share #4  Posted July 31, 2015 This is one reason why I never use the LR catalogue .......  I have my own Photo directory divided into years....... access the SD card direct on the computer .... order by size, manually copy all the 43mb files to my current 2015 folder.... duplicates are automatically ignored.  Import into LR using ADD from this directory which leaves them in the original site.  Safer, simple, more sensible, makes back-up of the originals easier and more secure.  No problems changing to another or using multiple image processors, immune to issues with whatever Adobe do to LR.
