lucerne Posted July 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm considering purchasing the Q leather Protector. Does anyone know whether the handgrip would fit OVER the protector? Seems like an odd question but worth getting an opinion. I'm expecting the answer to be no, but you never know! The problem with the handgrip is that once fitted, no existing case will fit. Do any users of the protector have an opinion as to its worth. I'm unfortunately having to make all decisions blind. Hundred of miles to my nearest stockist. I'm delighted with my Q .

bernie.lcf Posted July 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2015 no, protector & grip does not work if you need a protector with built-in grip, you can buy one of the new Leicatime cases for the Q
Surelythisnameisfree Posted July 22, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2015 or the arte di mano case. I've ordered one and will post pics once received
lucerne Posted July 22, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted July 22, 2015 The Arte Di Mano case does appeal. It is double the price of the Leica case but offers much more protection together with its built in grip. It could take weeks to arrive. I'd like to have one in a select leather but who knows what it could cost. I've looked at Louigi's case. It's also very well made. must decide soon! Surelythisnameisfree Posted July 23, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2015 I went for the barenia leather arte di Mano case as I wanted a smooth black finish. I think it was $20 extra. I did look at the luigi case too but it seems to have a strip of clear plastic across the back to hold the shape which just doesn't look right to me. The arte di Mano case solved this with an internal metal frame

Sejuns cases are very snug fits and exceptionally well finished ..... I have a similar Q on order and no doubt it will be up to his usual standard. bernie.lcf Posted August 12, 2015 Share #9 Posted August 12, 2015 I did look at the luigi case too but it seems to have a strip of clear plastic across the back to hold the shape which just doesn't look right to me. The arte di Mano case solved this with an internal metal frame There are multiple versions available from Luigi and there is some flexibility when you send an e-mail to discuss this (i.e. the plastic strip is only shown with cases that do not have the opening for the side flap, but I have been told that you can have it either way). The arte di Mano cases look quite nice and get decent reviews, but I find it difficult to procure in Europe. It also isn't an Italian product despite of its name. It's appears to be made in Korea and (considering this) sells for a very very high price. In any case, arte di Mano and Luigi both have cases shipping now. Angelo Pelle has announced Q cases, but isn't shipping them yet. I am using the Leica protector and I am happy with it so far.
Guest Posted August 12, 2015 Share #10 Posted August 12, 2015 I'm going to wait for Garitz to come out with a case for the Q. I have their half cases for my M240's and the MM and find them to easily be the best I've ever had for my Leica M line of cameras, and I've owned and rejected several. I emailed Garitz a couple of weeks back to see if they planned to make a case for the Q and they replied positively on that, I guess it's under development right now. Given the popularity of the Q so far I imagine many case and other accessory makers will be coming out with 3rd party products in the next few months so I'd expect choices to multiply by year's end or so. The lead time to await a Garitz case will also give me time to consider if the Q's a "keeper", I guess Leica's first firmware revision will go a long way in answering that for me.
