pauledell Posted June 18, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 18, 2015 Nice composition, fine smooth tones and crisp sharpness. Paul
A miller Posted June 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2015 very enjoyable, although it looks quite overexposed.
Gibbo Posted June 18, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted June 18, 2015 You do surprise me, where is it overexposed?
A miller Posted June 18, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 18, 2015 I am particularly distracted by the bright highlights in the noisy bokeh in the background. I think that if toned this down you would focus the eye more on the people in the foreground, which would make the image much more pleasing to the eyes. Gibbo Posted June 18, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted June 18, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see. It feels so rare that we get bright sunny days that I felt like showing that rather than toning it down.
A miller Posted June 18, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 18, 2015 I see. It feels so rare that we get bright sunny days that I felt like showing that rather than toning it down. Very funny, Gibbo. I like shots like this that showcase beauty and fashion statements.

A miller Posted June 18, 2015 Share #10 Posted June 18, 2015 FWIW, this is along the lines of what i would envision doing with this shot... Welcome, dear visitor! Manoleica Posted June 18, 2015 Share #11 Posted June 18, 2015 Far be it for me to even consider criticising your or anybody's work - but - I would consider cropping, therefore making your subjects stand out.. Louis Posted June 18, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 18, 2015 Far be it for me to even consider criticising your or anybody's work - but - I would consider cropping, therefore making your subjects stand out.. Too centered!... I would cut more from the left side of the original shot and leave the right perspective! :-)
Manoleica Posted June 18, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 18, 2015 Too centered!... I would cut more from the left side of the original shot and leave the right perspective! :-) I think you need more on the Left side to accentuate the overtaker! (space for movement)
A miller Posted June 19, 2015 Share #14 Posted June 19, 2015 i think it is fine the way it is. There isn't a lot of dead space on the sides and it provides context. This is the shot that was taken, and we have to live with it. I am much more befuddled by the motion blur on the girl to the right.... If they all looked like the girl on the right I think it would be a keeper.

I suppose each one of us has a different idea, view and taste. Therefore, I guess we should better take the view of the photographer as expressed by himself!... It is up to each one of us to accept it as it is or not!!...
A miller Posted June 19, 2015 Share #16 Posted June 19, 2015 I agree, Louis. To correct my statement in my previous post, my befuddlement is caused by the motion blur of the girl on the LEFT. if everyone was captured as crisply as the girl on the RIGHT, it could be a keeper... Gibbo Posted June 19, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted June 19, 2015 Guys, many thanks for your time and comments, it's been great to get some input and critique for a change! It really does go to show that, by and large, the value of an image is in the eye of the beholder! I can see the thinking behind these comments and the only disagreement I have is with the square crop which I don't think works. I've not had a photo discussed so much before and, once again, I have to thank you!
SpokeBroke Posted June 20, 2015 Share #18 Posted June 20, 2015 I have learned from this as well. Thanks
