'Noise-Level-Wise'? For day-to-day work I use DSLRs so the Leica is always a quiet delight by comparison. Philip.

Jeff S Posted September 5, 2015 Share #22 Posted September 5, 2015 I must say I love the sound of the camera and the 'discreet' option was, absolutely, the major factor in my seeking-out the 8.2 version. You could have saved the money....the discreet option was a firmware upgrade that also applied to the stock M8. The M8.2 did, however, offer a shutter upgrade that resulted in a slightly better shutter sound, but did nothing to stop the re-cock motor noise, which is the awful sound that the discreet mode addresses, but only by delay, not elimination (and the M8.2 loses the 1/8000 shutter speed in return). The M240, on the other hand, significantly reduces the re-cock noise, and also offers a smoother shutter release. Jeff
