terrycioni Posted August 17, 2015 Share #21 Posted August 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey SCREWHEAD - looks good enough on my screen to get point across, certainly not a work of art and not something I would normally bother with...complain to the mods maybe they will delete it for you

screwmount Posted August 18, 2015 Share #22 Posted August 18, 2015 maybe the Q lens is designed by Fujifilm, if the lenshood cap from Fuji fits ?????????
proy Posted September 8, 2015 Share #23 Posted September 8, 2015 Just found and ordered this. Looks like it might do the trick. I'll report back. http://www.shapeways.com/product/U7TCMVAER/lenshood-cover-for-leica-q?li=search-results-1&optionId=57239896
@McLeica Posted October 8, 2015 Share #24 Posted October 8, 2015 I will just let pictures speak for themselves. I have three different lens caps for 49mm that I purchased from Amazon some time ago. None of them fits; all of them are pinch grip. Maybe a very very thin one will fit - why you would rather wedge one in instead of using the hood supplied by Leica (for free) is beyond me. If indeed you have that one miracle cap that fits, I suggest you provide brand and details on how to get it... so that people reading your post actually have a chance of following your suggestion. I have the same one.....turn the cap by 90 degrees, pinch and it will fit.
Fred Dingemans Posted April 15, 2016 Share #25 Posted April 15, 2016 I use pinch lens caps. But the kept jumping from my fingers so I came up with this. 2 tiny set screws, pointy bit is just enough to hold it verry good.
mrmax Posted June 8, 2016 Share #26 Posted June 8, 2016 Any good solutions to this problem? My cap is shot now and wont stay on the hood, i'm sure this has happened to most of us...
thekidza Posted June 8, 2016 Share #27 Posted June 8, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I used Hood Hat like others. In my opinion, it is acceptable to used and no problem with my Q. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000AC924/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=

vamp07 Posted November 1, 2016 Share #31 Posted November 1, 2016 The same cap works with the hood mounted. It's still kinda stiff and not that fast to take on and off though. I don't think I would have figured this out on my own.
Lucena Posted November 1, 2016 Share #32 Posted November 1, 2016 Any good solutions to this problem? My cap is shot now and wont stay on the hood, i'm sure this has happened to most of us...This happened to me after two months use. I retrieved it to Leica and they sent me a new one: no problem with this one, with a permanent use -take off and put on- without special care it is still perfect after almost one year of useSo do the same thing, they will exchange de defect cap. MickyW Posted November 1, 2016 Share #33 Posted November 1, 2016 Had my Q almost a year now ... still on the original lens cap, and as with Lucena above, it hasn't had any special care or attention! It's still as good as new. Gets used most days
SonomaBear Posted November 2, 2016 Share #34 Posted November 2, 2016 The $8 answer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AC924/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It fits perfectly OVER then lens hood, stays in place, keeps out all dust, squeezes down into your pocket while you shoot -- PERFECT ANSWER Make sure you order the "Mini" I've started using these on all of my glass since I normally have hoods and hate trying to put in the caps! Orguy Posted November 2, 2016 Share #35 Posted November 2, 2016 I talked about this in another thread just now: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/248895-carrying-leica-q-in-a-case/ The $3 answer which still allows you to use the elegant Leica lens cap (Sensei cap keeper): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=850525&gclid=CjwKEAjw-uDABRDPz4-0tp6T6lMSJADNoyPb_adeU9UN0-LvzXPsLWNEpjHX1LTia7Leoqh0Ftje_RoCB1Hw_wcB&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C92051677562%2C&A=details&Q=
wda Posted November 2, 2016 Share #36 Posted November 2, 2016 I have had my Q since early this year and experienced no problems with the hood or cap. I value its modest tightness; better than working loose and becoming lost. I find a slight twisting action when fitting and removing protects the lining and eases fitting or removal. involuntarysoul Posted June 11, 2017 Share #37 Posted June 11, 2017 Well I just received the Q today, so far extremely pleased That said, one extreme annoying issue is the lens hood/cap. why don't they include a lens hood cap? Instead you have to unscrew the lens hood to put the lens cap on, so annoying. Can anyone think of any other option ? Thanks in advance... you do realize the 65mm cap will also fit over the hood
TheProf Posted June 12, 2017 Share #38 Posted June 12, 2017 The Op/Tech neoprene lens cover works great on the Q with the hood attached. A lightly ugly, but very easy to get on and off, and easily stuffed in a pocket: https://www.amazon.com/OP-TECH-USA-8001112-Hood/dp/B00009R9BL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497275411&sr=8-1&keywords=neoprene+lens+cover
microview Posted June 12, 2017 Share #39 Posted June 12, 2017 Most of the time I protect the lens with a B&W filter. If going out with the hood in place, no further protection. I seem to recall the poor hood lining was much discussed when the Q came out.
AlvaB Posted September 4, 2017 Share #40 Posted September 4, 2017 I had the same problem with the lens cap, after a few months wear the inner lining became thinner and the cap had a tendency to slip off. I therefore bought the Op/Tech Mini and inserted the lens cap into its base, it works a dream as the lens cap is still useable and the Op/Tech Mini protects the majority of the lens from bumps and scratches.
