w44neg Posted June 7, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry if this has been asked before, but after a previous very bad experience with a lens adapter (cheap build meant it got stuck to a very expensive lens!!), I thought I'd ask on here for recommendations. Basically, I've found the need for a Tilt Shift lens, with the Canon 17mm TS-E being perfect for the job. I don't really want to buy a Canon body as I'll only probably use it for this one lens, so I wondered if there's a decent adapter for the M240 which will allow the use of the Canon lens? I believe the aperture on the TS-E models are electronic, so I don't know how I'll go about that issue, but finding an adapter would be a good start. Thanks in advance. Mornnb Posted June 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2015 The only one I'm aware of is the FotodioX adapter. It works however with the TS-E 17mm and it's very wide image circle there are some internal reflection issues.
jaapv Posted June 7, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2015 There is usually not much wrong with the Fotodiox adapters: http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-M-Series-Camera-M-Monochrome/dp/B0073AC440

darylgo Posted June 8, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 8, 2015 Jinfinance sells one on ebay. I've used it with the 8-15mm fisheye on the M9 and M240 without any issues: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-lens-to-Leica-Voigtlander-M9-M6-M7-M8-adapter-/140602769668 Kipon also makes one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Kipon-Adapter-for-Canon-EOS-EF-Lens-to-Ricoh-GXR-A12-Camera-Leica-M-/271890776590?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f4df4020e when I purchased my jinfinance they also listed it as Ricoh Gxr-A12 but it should fit any Leica M body. I would send them a quick inquiry to make sure. There is no aperture control on Eos lenses with these adapters, the workaround is to mount it on a Canon body, while stopping the lens down press the lens release button and remove it from the body, the aperture will stay where it is preset. I have a 7d body to do the workaround, others should work I guess. Canon is updating many bodies, recently there was a 6d body for $1099 non USA. krieves Posted June 8, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 8, 2015 I have the FotodioX adaptor, but find the lack of aperture control is a deal breaker. There may be instances where you could use a Canon EF lens on your Leica, but the chances are you won't be shooting it wide open all the time. It appears to me to be a bit over the top to get a Canon body just to change aperture.
CheshireCat Posted June 8, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2015 It appears to me to be a bit over the top to get a Canon body just to change aperture. But then again, a very old EOS camera can be had for a few bucks

w44neg Posted June 8, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to keep Canon with Canon, so I've gone down the secondary body route. It's a shame there's no proper adapter option to the M system.
