StevieB Posted June 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks. I'm concerned about my fairly new M-E. When I tried to take a photo this evening there was no click at all and then after about ten seconds it fired. This happened three times in a row and then on the fourth attempt the shutter clicked but the red light indicating image transfer flashed on and on, even when the camera was turned off so I removed the battery. After a few minutes I tried the camera and it fired normally. Is this a glitch that others have experienced? I am rather worried. Thanks in advance for any advice. jaapv Posted June 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2015 Didn’t you engage self-timer by accident?
StevieB Posted June 3, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted June 3, 2015 Jaap, maybe I did that. I don't remember correcting the dial from that setting but I hope that is the reason for the shutter delay.
ozkanakman Posted June 4, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 4, 2015 I experienced similar behaviour in C mode before. Are you in S or C mode? I removed and reinserted the battery like you did and only use S mode. That resolved my issue.
250swb Posted June 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2015 Sounds like you set it to 'Timer', then perhaps in frustration pressed the shutter button again to quickly before the buffer had emptied, so overworking the tiny memory, and hence the lock up. Or perhaps you accidentally also made a very long exposure and the 'black frame' function was in action. If taking the battery out clears it I don't think there is anything to worry about unless it does it when you are definitely 100% positive you did nothing wrong. The M9 generation of camera's does have some quirks, my MM for instance tells me my SD card is full if I wake it up and try to take a photograph too quickly, so there are plenty of idiosyncrasies to ignore, it's just knowing which ones are the idiosyncrasies.
