quarth Posted May 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) All - any suggestions for a wrist strap on the M8, instead of a neck strap? I believe I've seen photo's of Guy's camera with something similar to what I'm looking for... (more than a thin strap -- ideally something thicker that I can use to "marry" it to my hand instead of dangle it). Thanks!

tashley Posted May 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2007 I'm about to get one or two of these, they look very useful and I've heard good reports... www.leicagoodies.com Look for the Sling. Tim
dcoombs Posted May 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2007 I got one and, together with the optional hand grip, it works very well. The combination is secure and comfortable. I let the camera hang at my side with my fingers lightly on the grip. Can carry it all day like that. Trick is to get a wrist strap that is adjustable or tailored to the length you need to carry it easily. I got mine from Luigi's in Italy and asked him to make it to a specified length. He was very accomodating. Doug
rvaubel Posted May 19, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 19, 2007 I use Gordy's strap which is very narrow and functions pretty much as a fail safe device. It is also handy when changing lenses since you can just let the camera dangle while you are fiddling. One of the things I like about it is it doesn't take up any room in a small camera bag. It is very minimal which is the way I like it. At $15 the price is hard to beat! Rex
barjohn Posted May 19, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2007 Try the Sling from Leicagoodies.com for $20 including shipping. I got one and I prefer it as you can hang the camera safely from your fingertips and it holds on like a Chinese bamboo finger grip. The camera comes to hand in a second and it is comfortable & light weight.
mat_mcdermott Posted May 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 19, 2007 Artisan & Artist makes a really nice leather wrist strap, though it's not quite the bargain that Gordy's strap is.

woodyspedden Posted May 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 28, 2007 Take a look at the combination wrist strap and arca swiss style tripod plate at Camdapter | Hand Strap Solutions for DSLR cameras | Made in the USA!. It comes in a variety of colors and gives you the option of quick connecting to your tripod when handheld is not an option. Carsten It is super simple to connect the camdapter wrist strap to the M8. I leave the neckstrap attached and put the adapter strap through the neckstrap ring on the right side of the camera (I am obviously right handed) Then the arca swiss style plate attaches to the tripod thread for a secure and very flexible solution. I'll try to find the image I posted on the Luigi half case for a silver M8 thread so you can see or you can go to that thread which is now on page 2 or 3 of this forum. barjohn Posted May 29, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 29, 2007 Woody, The loop formed by the starp seems so large that I am not sure what support it provides. Maybe a shot with it in your hand would tell us more.

Maybe a shot with it in your hand would tell us more. John I'll try to do a shot with my hand in it but remember how small the M8 is when you consider the size of the loop as seen here. My hand is also very large so as it is now set I have more than enough tightness around my hand to provide security. If mine were any tighter I would have a hard time getting my index finger to the shutter release. In any event, the strap can be tightened further if desired. You can see there is slack in the strap. barjohn Posted May 29, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 29, 2007 Woody, The loop appears to be too large in the picture so a hand in it will add perspective.
