Advertisement Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi dcoombs, Take a look here Central Park Wedding. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted May 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 18, 2007 Douglas - For starters, this is a very amusing photo showing the delighted very slightly out of focus couple in the background and the tired(?), bored(?), surly(?) bleach blonde smoker in focus in the foreground. Brilliant catch, excellent light, colors and composition. BTW: Often, what you are seeing is just the photo shoot for a Chinese American wedding, and the ceremony is usually months later. There are several places in the city where you can see this happen almost any day of the year.
toyfel Posted May 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2007 Fantastic shot!!! Love just evrything about it! Well done dcoombs!
dcoombs Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted May 19, 2007 Thanks to you both for the kind words. I kind of thought it was an amusing juxtaposition, too. And yes, Stuart, it was the photo shoot for a wedding. Their cameraman was just out of view on the left. Doug
wda Posted May 19, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2007 I like this one but wonder whether you got any more of the character who makes the shot? Lovely rendering. David
wda Posted May 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 19, 2007 I have just noticed the yellow 'sticky'. Do they stake out the places between the trees for each wedding couple? David
dcoombs Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted May 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) David, not really, tho it looks like it. For purposes of the picture I would have liked to get rid of that yellow tag, too. It was a note placed by the Parks Dept. saying that they had just sprayed insecticide on the tree and that people should not sit there for a day or so. Philinflash Posted May 21, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 21, 2007 I have just noticed the yellow 'sticky'. Do they stake out the places between the trees for each wedding couple? David Good get, David. I thought it was a daffodil on first sight. I must admit, I would have removed it in PS, but then I can rarely resist mucking about with my captures. This photo reflects the wry sense of humor of the the photographer, well done, Doug! Phil
David Wogan Posted May 21, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 21, 2007 The expression on the smokers face is just priceless. Love it!
wparsonsgisnet Posted May 24, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 24, 2007 I especially like the yellow tag, having recognized it as an chemical spray warning. Man, this picture has everything in it -- not to mention that the bride and groom are out of focus. The photo's a poem in all of its aspects.
geretics Posted May 25, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 25, 2007 Very pleasantly enjoyable photograph. I just wonder if you needed any permission from that young guy. The contrast between that person and slightly out of focused couple really amuses me. Cheers, --Jaehong
dcoombs Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted May 28, 2007 Jaehong, glad you liked it. I am working on the assumption that candids in public places do not require permissions. Plus I have no intention of using this commercially. Hope that's correct. Doug
