Advertisement Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Hi Edward Louis Marit, Take a look here M246 shipping. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jennifer Posted May 24, 2015 Share #42 Posted May 24, 2015 It is slightly embarrassing that I let my impatience speak for me from time to time, but release it or freaking don't release it. This half cocked release BS is irritating. My tone will change shortly... In the UK supply of the first batch of 246's seemed to be very patchy. So, for example, Red Dot got 5 or 6 whereas Leica's flagship store in Mayfair only got 2, one of which they've kept as their display model. Maybe Leica favouring one store over another simply reflects their relative potential for sales. Anyway, the first batch seems to be pretty much sold out in the UK which is remarkable given the substantial price disparity between here and the Eurozone. Philinflash Posted May 24, 2015 Share #43 Posted May 24, 2015 Unsurprisingly, the shop in Leitz-Park, Wetzlar seems to have plenty. Well, One less as of Thursday . I just happened to be passing through... Initial impression: It is up to its hype; a big change from my M8.2. I will be interested to see how the final images look. Edward Louis Marit Posted May 24, 2015 Share #44 Posted May 24, 2015 I will visit Leitz park next month when I happen to be in Frankfurt for something else. But I will not pay German VAT plus Canadian GST and PST and duties. The so called VAT refunds end up being about 60% only after "commissions and fees". MarkThailand Posted May 27, 2015 Share #45 Posted May 27, 2015 My authorized Leica dealer in Bangkok is getting two M246's this saturday May 31 @ 260,000 THB each, including 7 % VAT (approx. 7,700 USD or 6,900 Euros).... Quite reasonable for a first release price. Mark

tthorne Posted May 28, 2015 Share #49 Posted May 28, 2015 Order has been restored to the universe and we can all breathe again. My M246 came in yesterday. I am no longer in a grumpy mood. And so it goes...
dante Posted June 2, 2015 Share #50 Posted June 2, 2015 Try to get Leica NJ to fix one of those let alone clean the sensor for free for 2 years. Grey market is not much savings for losing the warranty. By the way, are these cameras shipping in any numbers? It doesn't seem like many have made it out there yet. Dear Mr. Dealer - I'm waiting for your call! Dante
Guest jvansmit Posted June 2, 2015 Share #51 Posted June 2, 2015 My usual HK dealer has just had his second (grey market) shipment.
Philinflash Posted June 3, 2015 Share #52 Posted June 3, 2015 grey market M246s here already in HK...USD6,897 cash That's fine for you living in HK, but the rest of the World can buy the Real Deal direct from Wetzlar for less.
Edward Louis Marit Posted June 3, 2015 Share #53 Posted June 3, 2015 Only if you believe the rest of the world is the EU. It would be considerably more expensive from anyone outside the EU to buy from Wetzlar.
Philinflash Posted June 3, 2015 Share #54 Posted June 3, 2015 Only if you believe the rest of the world is the EU. ... Not one of my beliefs. With respect, I do not understand your problem with my observation. The OP stimulated a thread concerning availability with no mention of price or costs or shopper inconvenience. So, am I "off-topic" whether the location is Hong Kong or Wetzlar?
fl0950 Posted June 3, 2015 Share #55 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm on the waiting list at Leica Miami. When I placed my order 3 weeks ago, I was number 60. They've had one small batch come in, but they don't have any idea how long it will take to fill their orders. I'm thinking several months....
algrove Posted June 3, 2015 Author Share #56 Posted June 3, 2015 I got mine sent from them 26 May and mine was in their second wave.
Philinflash Posted June 3, 2015 Share #57 Posted June 3, 2015 Of course, the utility of any reports of availability decays rapidly especially the way this product seems to be snapped up. What I was told in Wetzlar on the day of my purchase two weeks ago has no relevance to future inventories.
Edward Louis Marit Posted June 4, 2015 Share #58 Posted June 4, 2015 Not one of my beliefs. With respect, I do not understand your problem with my observation. The OP stimulated a thread concerning availability with no mention of price or costs or shopper inconvenience. So, am I "off-topic" whether the location is Hong Kong or Wetzlar? If cost or shopper convenience are not a factor then you are indeed correct - certainly Wetzlar and Hong Kong have equal standing with regard to availability . Only practical If you live relatively near one of them however, or at least in the same currency and tariff economic zone.
Philinflash Posted June 5, 2015 Share #59 Posted June 5, 2015 @Architect: Have a nice visit to Wetzlar whether or not you buy anything there. It is an amazing place and the sales people are friendly and accomodating. It is like no other camera shop and benefits from not being cluttered with irrelevant "stuff." Taxation and importation complications may mean that you will not want to buy anything there but at least you will be able to see a lot of Leica merchandise that you may not see elsewhere.
