Advertisement Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Hi monomarc, Take a look here Which slim UV filter works with the 12586 hood for the Lux 50mm?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted May 13, 2015 Share #2  Posted May 13, 2015 If you mean the Summilux 50/1.4 # 11114 (pic), my sample with 12586 hood fits regular E43 (M 43 x 0.5) Leica filters. I don't have UVa's this size myself but the order number of the E43 UVa Leica filter is 13206 according to my Leitz general catalogue from 1980. Welcome, dear visitor! lct Posted May 13, 2015 Share #3  Posted May 13, 2015 BTW the filter i use is a B+W 43mm UV/IR Cut 486M MRC #14685. Perhaps B+W makes UV's with the same mount, i don't know.
monomarc Posted May 13, 2015 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 13, 2015 Thank you. It is that lense. In one store I was told that Leica doesn't manufacture those filters anymore. But I will re-check. Again, thank you!
lct Posted May 13, 2015 Share #5  Posted May 13, 2015 Last time i checked they were available on special order but it was in 2006 . Can be found easily on the s/h market though. Here in Germany for instance: http://tinyurl.com/mt3pavm Not inexpensive but the price new was 105 EUR in 2006.
bocaburger Posted May 13, 2015 Share #6  Posted May 13, 2015 Leica made 2 types of filter for that lens. One is a slim mount with no front threads. The hood passes over it and clips onto the groove on the lens itself. In later years they made the filters wider and with a groove in the filter mount, which the hood clips onto. I happen to prefer the first type, because the glass is retained by a threaded ring with spanner notches. Filters in odd colors and/or with scratches and cracks and haze can be bought for next to nothing, and glass from new 43mm filters can be swapped in.  The later Leica filters it's more difficult, as the glass is retained by a spring clip.
