Anyone with a 35mm Biogon received their filter and does it fit?

Has anyone with a 35mm CZ ZM Biogon received their Leica 43mm filter? I have and it does not fit. It has to go back anyway, as it has a blob of black paint on the filter glass but it would be interesting to know if anyone else's fits. Mine screws in about 1/2 a turn then stops. I have measured the thread diameter with a digital micrometer and also B+W 43 mm and Schneider 43 mm filters.

Leica 42.823mm

B+W 42.771mm

Schneider 42.773mm

That is a big enough discrepancy to stop the filter screwing properly.

It is difficult to compare the thread pitches visually as the Leica is Silver (their only option) and the other two black but I think they are the same 0.75M.

If they all don't fit, I will opt for another size for one of my Leica lenses or was this just one badly made one.

Interesting ... I've had the same experience with my Leica 43mm filter with my Zeiss 50/2. The B+W screws on/off effortlessly but the Leica filter starts but then binds very quickly - as if it's about to cross thread. I ended up leaving the B+W on the lens.

I thought maybe I'd got a lemon of a filter but it seems I'm not alone!

Graham,

Since the 43mm is available in Silver only, maybe that is for an old Leica lens, which has a different filter thread. However as I posted above, the Leica filter thread is about .05mm bigger but that may be due to the different thread. I think, given that you have the same problem, I am going to take them up on their offer to change my filter for a 60mm one. I had asked earlier and they agreed but my original order had already been packed when I asked. I will then just keep the B+W 486 on my CZ 35.

Wilson, mine fit, but barely. The threads must not be the same. The Zeiss specs say 0,75, which I assume is the thread size. Not sure about the Leica threads.

I did manage to get it on straight and far enough to be secure, but it took some uncomfortable effort. There is an RFF thread on this topic with more responses, and it seems to be the same for everyone with this combo.

Same problem with mine on a 35mm Biogon. I received a Leica silver 43mm UV/IR cut filter (country of origin, Japan) and it does not screw on properly - seems to be a thread mis-match. I was using a B+W 486 on the Biogon without problems.
