Enbee Posted May 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an 8 month old M-P 240. I have started to have issues with taking the battery out. Everytime I press the battery to take it out - the battery just sits there. I have to play around with battery to take it out. Yesterday, it took more than 20-30 tries to take the battery out. Please suggest what I can do? Is the spring faulty or anything else I should look at? Thanks, Nitesh

Manoleica Posted May 3, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2015 Why not make a little tab on the battery with ductape! Be inventive, you own a Leica.. It's under warranty, call your dealer.. Or, send me your camera and I will test it out and let you know my findings..
Enbee Posted May 3, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted May 3, 2015 I have moved to India after purchasing this camera. My dealer is in the U.S. Let me message and ask him.
bocaburger Posted May 3, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2015 The spring might be faulty, but AFAIK the force of gravity is still fully operational, so if it was me I'd just trip the release tab with the camera upright and my hand underneath.
Enbee Posted May 3, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted May 3, 2015 That's what I have been trying to do but that doesn't work either. Do you think it's the battery? I have two of them and both of them get stuck. The batteries may have expanded fur to heat?
pop Posted May 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2015 Are you sure the battery has not grown wider in the meantime? According to what I have read about the matter, this might be the sign of a defective battery.
Enbee Posted May 3, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted May 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's what I an thinking now. Since I am I'm India and the weather is extremely hot here that may be the case. It us surprising though because I have tried to keep my camera and batteries in cool places. Is there a battery size spec?
jack-tucker Posted May 3, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2015 I am living in India, my M-P is with me since January. Have two batteries and no problems with them. Here in Delhi we had already 42 degree Celsius a few days back and I was using the camera as usual. And we don't have AC in our house. So fare I didn't face this problem (and here I touch a wooden chair) so I am not sure if it is the heat, in your case... Hope you'll find out what it is, soon. Good luck! indergaard Posted May 3, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 3, 2015 I had the same problem a few years back with a Fuji X-E1. It was the battery. Bad batteries can expand. I could hardly get the battery out of the camera. So it might be worth trying to find an original battery at a dealer just to test if it fits better or not. Enbee Posted May 4, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted May 4, 2015 Yes I am asking my dealer to send me one. So I can try it. Issues of living in a non leica nation! Wonder why leica has no existence on India.
Enbee Posted May 6, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted May 6, 2015 My dealer is replacing the existing batteries - hopefully that should do the trick! Thank You all for your suggestions and help.
