jdlaing Posted April 30, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 30, 2015 Could someone more familiar with safaris than I please explain what army-motorpool-green has to do with a safari? A. That is not Army Motorpool Green B. There haven't been any Safaris in almost 30 years. It's a large wildlife refuge with so many people visiting the animals now pose for you. Mornnb Posted April 30, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 30, 2015 All I can say is if I'm going on a Safari I'm not bringing a Leica M but a Canon DSLR with a 400mm lens.

I know a few members here who would agree for the tourist traps and strongly disagree for large tracts of unspoilt bush - sadly shrinking.

I know a few members here who would agree for the tourist traps and strongly disagree for large tracts of unspoilt bush - sadly shrinking. I went on one in early 1970 and, let me tell you, there were no creature comforts. You ate what you gathered or hunted. On the upside there were no terrorists and squabbling among the natives either and it was economical.
jaapv Posted May 1, 2015 Share #10 Posted May 1, 2015 I know what you mean - when I started out the definition of a luxury camp was that it had a long-drop loo instead of a bush seat...
