Advertisement Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Hi carlos diaz, Take a look here 50mm delivery?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
geoff Posted May 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2007 Carlos, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean through the 30% discount offer or just in general. I picked up a new silver 50mm 1.4 Summilux ASPH late last month.
tbarker13 Posted May 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2007 My 30 percent discount 50 lux was booked by Leica on March 19. No sign of the lens or any charges on my credit card. Going on two months now. I'm wondering what the typical wait time is for this lens.
Frank Sprow Posted May 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 17, 2007 I received my 30% 50mm Summilux (great lens) about 1 1/2 months ago, from Germany.
carlos diaz Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 18, 2007 Carlos, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean through the 30% discount offer or just in general. I picked up a new silver 50mm 1.4 Summilux ASPH late last month. Sorry but yes I'm refering to the "30% discount version" of the 50mm. I have emailed Andrea Harold at Leica and she says there is no way I will get the lens before the end of June, which is when I leave for a few weeks in Europe. What a bummer. The longest lens I have is a 35mm! This might be a long shot but is there a source for renting a lens? Carlos
carlos diaz Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted May 18, 2007 I received my 30% 50mm Summilux (great lens) about 1 1/2 months ago, from Germany. Frank, may I ask when you put your order in? Any suggestions to expedite delivery? Thanks

gravastar Posted May 18, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 18, 2007 You might consider the Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 Nokton and screw adapter if you are unable to get the Summilux in time. It's an excellent lens at a fraction of the cost. Bob.
Frank Sprow Posted May 18, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 18, 2007 I put my lens request in way back in December as I recall. It was within a few days of receiving the offering letter from Solms.
carlos diaz Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted May 18, 2007 Carlos,When did you get your confirmation letter from Leica? Maybe that's the problem, I was notified just about 3 weeks ago! So I wonder if anyone in my position has made a "deal" to take ownership of a lens from their local Leica "dealer" with the agreement to preplace it when the discounted lens comes in from Germany! James Mitchell Posted May 18, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 18, 2007 My 28/2.8 ASPH took two and a half months after "booking" to arrive (four months total). Just got it today. The 50 'lux APSH must be on a simlar time schedule.
rpierce Posted May 18, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 18, 2007 I think the 50mm 1.4 Lux was the lens I ordered with the 30% discount...its been a long time. I hope the June estimate is correct. Bob Pierce
TDR Posted May 18, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 18, 2007 I have seen neither hyde nor hare of my 75mm Summicron, ordered and pre-paid in late January. This is not a 30 percent discount lens, just one I ordered though a reputable Leica dealer in San Francisco. I'm tempted to get a 50mm to help fill in for the missing 75. It took nearly two months to get my 28 summicron. The only other lens I have to shoot with is a recent but uncoded 35 summicron. Let's just say I'm getting very close to people these days when I shoot, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Wasn't that Capa's advice? -Timothy

This might be a long shot but is there a source for renting a lens?Carlos In my experience, there is an easy way to "rent" a lens : buy at a store a lens you need if not too expensive (in your case, can be a 50 CV Nokton), keep with care box papers etc, use for a month or so with care, resell it : I did so year ago with a CV 35 1,7 Ultron : net cost about 60$... carlos diaz Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #16 Posted May 19, 2007 Exactly, and one can always sell it later if desired...although I wouldn't ever sell mine <G>. Cheers, Sean Sean and Bob, Are you both set on the 50mm f1.5 or would you also consider the 50mm f2.5? I really like the compactness of the latter lens. It looks like I will buy a CV lens, as you suggest to solve my problem, so I await your suggestions. Thanks to all for your advice! Carlos
sean_reid Posted May 19, 2007 Share #17 Posted May 19, 2007 I haven't tested the 50/2.5 but it is probably quite good. If that's the one you like then get it. You may find that you like it a lot and decide not to sell it. Cheers, Sean
