atufte Posted May 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not intended to replace or compete with this great forum/resource, just testing/trying to make another "user based" and hopefully helpeful resource for us Leica M8 users, if an M8 forum only is something people/users want, we can build it from scratch here... Hope to see you there.. :-) Facebook | Login
Advertisement Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Hi atufte, Take a look here New Leica M8 User Group. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
canlogic Posted May 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2007 Why ? Leica watches this one so problems are noted. I don't think they even watch dpreview. No harm in it though.
Knorp Posted May 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 16, 2007 Hi Alexander, allthough I appreciate your initiative to some extent, I can't see your point. Why scattering ones attention to yet another forum ? Better not ! But what exactly is your motivation ?
atufte Posted May 16, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted May 16, 2007 Hi Alexander, allthough I appreciate your initiative to some extent, I can't see your point. Why scattering ones attention to yet another forum ? Better not ! But what exactly is your motivation ? I just find the facebook intrest groups to be very easy to use, and free, so why not, if you don't like it, don't use it, i just made this for fun, not to impress anyone, or challenge anything....it's only a tribute site to a camera system i have fallen madly in love with... :-) Please don't shoot me... :-)

Guest stnami Posted May 16, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 16, 2007 I just find the facebook intrest groups to be very easy to use, and free....... nothing is really free, there is always a price in one form or another
atufte Posted May 16, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted May 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry Alexander,I do find this forum helpful and vital Me to, never said anything else....i can repeat myself again: "Not intended to replace or compete with this great forum/resource" I can't see why everyone seem to have a problem with this, it's just a silly user group...it won't compete with this forum, EVER... It's just for fun, a place to share photos, experiences, maybe meet up when traveling and so on, nothing else, what's wrong with that...?

chris_tribble Posted May 17, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 17, 2007 Alexander - admire your enthusiasm, though not sure if I want to register with yet another space and have even more reasons for not getting on with some of the other things I should be doing! One thing that I would appreciate though - and this has been raised by others in other discussions - is an area on the LUF where it's possible to set up swaps or to advertise items that we no longer need. This could be as simple as telling others that we've put things on Ebay so that members with needs could be made aware of opportunities. If this was part of the structure of your group it could make it more useful - but I'd prefer to see it on this forum as a separate area ... and fine, if there was some way in which this forum could get a small slice of the action I'd be happy with that. Just a thought ...
andybarton Posted May 17, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 17, 2007 Now that Leica are no longer sponsor, and calling the shots, there may be some more freedom to be had with regards to the way the forum is used.
matt736 Posted May 17, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 17, 2007 Andy, Does that mean we can sell items through the forum now ? Cheers Matthew.
stunsworth Posted May 17, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 17, 2007 Mathew this has been mentioned a few times since the 'split' from Leica and I can't help but notice that neither Andreas nor any of the mods have said that it isn't possible. Since Leica's role is now that of an interested third party rather than the sponser I'd like to think that there could be the possibility of a for sale section. I'm sure like many I'd prefer to buy/sell with people here than on eBay.
