helohe Posted March 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed that during daytime I prefer to use the white illuminated framelines. But during night-time and in dark environments, I prefer the red illumination. Similar like the red illumination in a submarine helps keeping the eyes sensitive to the dark, the red framelines are more helpful in the dark in my opinion. I think this is called the Purkinje effect. Anyway, I was thinking it would be nice if there were a setting which would set the camera to use the white lines in bright light and the red lines in dark light. Change the framelines to red and save the settings as a profile. I change the colors on some settings just to remind me but your desire is actually more functional. It is a matter of pushing a button. Getting it done automatically via a firmware update I suspect is not possible, and certainly not probable. Bill W Posted March 29, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2015 Not likely, most of us do not want to end up with a menu like a DSLR.
Joshua Lowe Posted March 29, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2015 Perhaps making the video button user-assignable might be a way to achieve a similar result. You could quickly switch frame line colors as you see fit.
bocaburger Posted March 29, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2015 Your suggestion sounds useful. That said I would be happy if they instituted a manual brightness limit control for the framelines, as the white ones are always too bright for my taste leading to more difficulty discerning contrast in the rangefinder patch therefore more difficulty focusing than I have with the old-style frame illumination. And I frankly detest the red ones under any circumstances.

Ditto I have a profile labelled 'night' specifically for this reason..... with different iso settings and some other customised things ....
