bocaburger Posted June 9, 2015 Share #23  Posted June 9, 2015 Somehow the green color at left and right bottom corner has gone. It seems LR flat field preserves the color better. See prev post. Pilot error. I should have selected the green grass as color replacement for that area, instead I applied the same color (middle of sky) I used for the upper part, so it basically desaturated the grass.  I didn't know a jpeg converted to .dng would work in LR flat field. I read that DXO doesn't support .dng if it came from a file conversion, only if straight from a camera, and assumed LR would be the same. LR flat-field is definitely more foolproof. If I were going to shoot a bunch with the 15 I would probably just put it on one body set to .dng and use a dedicated SD card for it. But for a few shots, converting from jpg is no biggie, so it's good to know! If so, what is their experience?I also consider V3 too big, V2 requires Corner Fix so maybe V1 with LTM to M adapter (which can be 6bit coded), code the lens as 21mm and simply use it without worries.Once the photos are in LR, I could always do a batch EXIF editing to set it back to 15mm.How does all this sound? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
bocaburger Posted July 14, 2016 Share #25  Posted July 14, 2016 I have both now, V1 and V3. V1 I still use for travel, because it's tiny. I don't shoot enough percentage-wise with 15mm to warrant dragging the V3 on trips. Thus I don't have a lot of 15mm shots from a trip, so the PP isn't a dealbreaker.  OTOH the times I use the V3 I'm shooting heavily with it, so appreciate not having to PP. Rangefinder coupling is totally superfluous with that focal length and slow maximum aperture.  And definitely code the V1 as a 21 pre-asph, it will cut the need for PP way down. A lot of shots will pass muster without any. And b&w won't need any.  As far as returning the EXIF to 15mm, I suppose if you wanted to. I never do. None of my lenses longer than 35mm are coded. Doesn't really matter to me to have the lens info in EXIF. YMMV.
