CheshireCat Posted March 15, 2015 Share #41 Posted March 15, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for your detailed comparison. It is interesting that you like the ASPH most, because of the touch of Mandler design. Have you ever tried the CV 35/1.2 ? Wide open, it reminds me a lot of the Noctilux f/1. Advertisement Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Hi CheshireCat, Take a look here Carl Zeiss ZM 35/1.4 on M9, MM, M240 / vs. 35ASPH vs. 35ASPH-FLE. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stanoops Posted March 15, 2015 Share #42 Posted March 15, 2015 I compared both, the CV 35 f1,2 II and the Distagon and decided to keep the Zeiss.. They are very similar in rendering at f1,4 but the Distagon have much better microcontrast and sharpness acros the frame.. The Nokton have a very similar bokeh, maybe just a tad smoother, but not enough to be different. I think they have very similar optical formula too.. The CV is indeed a very impresive lens, considering the price..but heavy.

You've left yourself nothing to look forward to. ....... yes ..... you'll spend so much time dithering over which delectable lens to use that you will never take any photos .... anyway ...... I took the 21/3.4, ZM 35/1.4, 50/2 apo, 75/2 .... and a 90/4 which never left the hotel room .... and used the 35/50/75 90% of the time and was pleased to see they all gave uniformly stonkingly good results and look very similar in image character .... all got fairly equal usage
james.liam Posted March 15, 2015 Share #48 Posted March 15, 2015 stonkingly good Please define.
CheshireCat Posted March 16, 2015 Share #49 Posted March 16, 2015 35 AA...50 APO...Noctilux...75 Lux...90 AA. You've left yourself nothing to look forward to. Not really. I predict the 90 AA will be replaced by a much better lens in the near future.
tookaphotoof Posted March 16, 2015 Share #50 Posted March 16, 2015 Thanks very much for posting. Makes it all even harder for me now. I've always loved Zeiss lenses. Switching to Leica made me decide to keep it all 'Leica', but something makes me want this lens really bad! It's the 'three clicks aperture' and the need to buy a couple of filters again (adding weight when taking multiple lenses) that hold me back. Wouldn't mind the viewfinder blockage. KM-25 Posted March 16, 2015 Share #51 Posted March 16, 2015 Please define. Stonk•ing / Stonking, adjective. When something is / smells so bad as to not allow the victim the ability to even spell the word "stinking" correctly let alone say it because their face is so distorted from the onslaught of the odiferous transgression. Blinded by stonk. This phrase is particularly well placed when one hears the near mach speed toilet paper dispenser-esque sound of dozens of mind numbing lens test photos unfurling at a furious pace......."You might not want to go in there, something is really stonking up the place!" .......lol! Manoleica Posted March 16, 2015 Share #52 Posted March 16, 2015 I think Stonking in the Post = spiffingly good = can't be bettered = top notch = absolutely fantastic... Now I'm of to talk to the trouble & strife up the apples & pears, any complaints, use the dog N bone..

Now I'm of to talk to the trouble & strife up the apples & pears, any complaints, use the dog N bone.. As a student any lady with a well upholstered chest was regarded as having 'stonkingly good frotters' .... and as usual the origin of these euphemisms is very obscure...... although the originator who used it incessantly at college came from the Forest of Dean in the west country .... and it does sound exceedingly good when said with a rich rural burr ..... Colloquial and dialectal English in the UK is extraordinarily rich is these terms

don daniel Posted April 4, 2015 Share #56 Posted April 4, 2015 and a few more ..... Well, the ZM 35/1.4 may be a super performer, but it's obviously not wide enough. I'll wait to see how the Summilux 28mm will do. But I guess it will not beat the Summicron in its rendering. Thanks to the TO for his work.
escimo Posted April 4, 2015 Share #57 Posted April 4, 2015 Continuing with the M9The 2nd (M9-9.jpg) shot is really taken with the 1.4/35 ZM onto the M9? Really? - For example with my 1.5/50 ZM I'm not able to get this kind of curve. Exciting! Cheers.

CheshireCat Posted April 5, 2015 Share #59 Posted April 5, 2015 He's still on the waiting list for Kubrick's f0.7/50mm Zeiss .Zeiss f/0.7: You Can Now Rent Two of the Largest Aperture Lenses Ever Made Only problems: he needs a modified M, and I don't think the lens will cover full frame Besides, the 35mm version has the size of a 400mm tele I think a reverse teleconverter (aka "speed booster") M to E-mount on a Noctilux would give better results, and we could actually use it.
