I love the way these images have been rendered... If I could afford this lens I would buy it today..!

It's an absolutely stunning lens wide open Bill.

Stopped down 2.8 and further, I don't know if one could reliably and consistently tell the difference.

But, you buy it for what it can do - not what it can't do.

Prices are nuts right now unfortunately - can't find a mint copy for less than €10 - €12.5K

FLE can produce similar images, but 35 AA has a very special look at 1.4-2 like you said. I think the difference is the contrast boost with emphasis on different bokeh.

Yes, and warmer rendering than the 35/1.4ASPH and 35/1.4ASPH-FLE

It's almost like the 35mm equivalent of the Noctilux f1 v4

For the classic look, i've settled on a few favorites for the CCD Monochrom - 21/3.4SA, 28cron, 35AA, 35/2.8, 50/1 v4, 73/1.9, 75/1.4, 85/1.5 and 90/2pre-AA.

That said, as you can see, the 35AA does modern and color very well too!

No arguments there it is an excellent lens.

The current Cost however leaves something to be desired.
