kprevolution Posted February 28, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello eveyone, my M240 can not take photo few days ago, every photo I took is completely dark, no matter what shutter speed i use, and i open the lense to find out what is wrong with the shutter curtain, when i press the shutter, the curtain goes up, and the 2nd curtain will follow up together, it blocks the sensor!! so all the photoes are dark!!! It there anyone can tell me what is wrong with my M240 please?:( thank you very much!!!

jaapv Posted March 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2015 I think the people to ask are Leica...
tobey bilek Posted March 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2015 I would first try a different card. Then I would clean the contacts with DeOx from Radio Shack. I take it back, make sure the shutter is opening. Then above. I suspect JAAP is correct however, but why send it off if all that is wrong is a card. k-hawinkler Posted March 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 1, 2015 Couldn't one try shooting a couple of images without a card? That would eliminate the card and writer/reader as the culprit, no?
farnz Posted March 1, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 1, 2015 Remove the lens, turn the camera on, set the shutter speed to B and see whether you can see the sensor for any length of time. This will prove whether or not the shutter is opening correctly. Next, reattach the lens, switch to Live View, and see if there's a picture on the LCD at the rear. This will prove whether the sensor is working. Next, take a picture and view it on the LCD. This will prove whether the camera correctly recorded a picture. If you've got this far and it's okay then your problem is likely to be your SD card. Next, clean the contacts as Tobey has advised above, try a different SD card and see if it correctly records a picture. If not, then contact Leica. Pete. AlanJW Posted March 1, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 1, 2015 Hello eveyone, my M240 can not take photo few days ago, every photo I took is completely dark, no matter what shutter speed i use, and i open the lense to find out what is wrong with the shutter curtain, when i press the shutter, the curtain goes up, and the 2nd curtain will follow up together, it blocks the sensor!! so all the photoes are dark!!! It there anyone can tell me what is wrong with my M240 please?:( thank you very much!!! You can't tell from this observation of the shutter. Focal plane shutters at higher speeds essentially run a narrow slit across the frame. That's why the advice to operate the camera in Bulb and observe whether you can see the sensor makes sense. You could also try putting the camera into sensor clean mode to see if you can see the sensor. If you cannot see the sensor, then for sure there is something wrong with the shutter mechanism.
