dashone Posted February 26, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted February 26, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd be interested to hear about experiences folks have had using a Leica M Typ 240 with a Voigtlander Heliar 75mm f1.8 thereon. Particular problems, tips, comments, advice: all welcome. Thank you.

bideford Posted February 26, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted February 26, 2015 Not what you want to hear perhaps but I have the 75mm 2.5 and it is one of my favorite lenses on my M! Â James
dugby Posted February 27, 2015 Share #3  Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) Not what you want to hear perhaps but I have the 75mm 2.5 and it is one of my favorite lenses on my M! James  I too chose the Voigtlander Color Heliar 75mm 2.5 over the 1.8 as they are quite similar in image capturing, and the 2.5 is so much smaller and lighter  Review: Voigtlander 75mm F/2.5 Color Heliar Review: Voigtlander 75mm F/1.8 Heliar Edited February 27, 2015 by dugby
FlashGordonPhotography Posted February 27, 2015 Share #4  Posted February 27, 2015 I have the 1.8. Fantastic lens on the type 240. Fabulous for portraits from wide open and very sharp a stop down. Great build quality with a really nice focus. Dampened just right for me and dead on. I bought mine when I bought my M9 and it's been entirely problem free. Operates like the day I bought it.  The only potential issue is it's size/weight for an M lens and the non-Leica filter size.  These are using an M9. But it's much the same on the 240.  FGP45672.jpg by Flash Gordon Photography, on Flickr  L1000407.jpg by Flash Gordon Photography, on Flickr  Gordon
denton Posted February 28, 2015 Share #5 Â Posted February 28, 2015 It's an excellent lens for portraits where super sharp detail is not desired, which for me is pretty much all the time. I prefer this lens to all others for portraits and have used it professionally. No focus shift when wide open, beautiful bokeh as the previous pictures indicate. It is a bit heavy and framing has to be closely watched. Denton

Mr. Thompson Posted March 4, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted March 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) My two Voigtlander 75s, the 1.8 for portraits and low light. The light weight 2.5 for everything else. Both are superb in output and value.
bephoto Posted March 4, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted March 4, 2015 I never had experience with Voigt 75s but 75 focal length is my favourite for portraits.
colonel Posted March 8, 2015 Share #9  Posted March 8, 2015 I am currently choosing between the Voigtlander 75mm f1.8 M and the new Summarit 75mm f2.4  According to the MTA figures the Voigtlander is sharp in the middle but very soft in the corners until f4 where miraculously the corners sharpen up. Contrast becomes better at f2 and f2.8 but doesn't match the summarit.  The summarit is much sharper overall, however it only starts at f2.4. The other advantage of the summarit is the size and weight of the lens and the slightly smoother focus  However the voigtlander I can get for less the half of the cost.  It seems that the voigtlander is the ideal portrait lens for centred pictures, the soft cornes lending to the buttery blur at the sides wide open. The summarit is a sharper contender but you pay for it and not quite as bokehlicious at the sides for centred portraits  If I was Leica man I would get both
