Manoleica Posted February 24, 2015 Share #41 Posted February 24, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) We've been living on just toast for I don't know how long! Enough in the bank for a 3rd party Leica screw adaptor
Advertisement Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Hi Manoleica, Take a look here Leica Announces Leica M-P (Typ 240) Safari Set with Silver 35mm f/2 ASPH. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 24, 2015 Share #42 Posted February 24, 2015 I would, in preference over the standard camera. However, I will not be owning it...
Paulus Posted February 24, 2015 Share #43 Posted February 24, 2015 But it looks cool, and fits into the "safari theme". Since nobody would ever bring this kit on a real safari anyway That's not a knife, this is: Amazon.com : Fallkniven Northern Light Series Tor Knife : Hunting Knives : Sports & Outdoors NL1L If I would buy the Safari, I would buy this Knife too. adamduckworth Posted February 24, 2015 Share #44 Posted February 24, 2015 I thought it was called "safari" as in the khaki green colour, used by the military. Rather than anything to do with lions. I may be wrong though.

rafael_macia Posted March 8, 2015 Share #46 Posted March 8, 2015 The Safari is real pretty! It sort of forces one to venture out minimalist. What I would like to see is a Hammertone finish M-P 240. The Hammertone film MP was absolutely beautiful !
Mornnb Posted March 8, 2015 Share #47 Posted March 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would buy it instantly if it came with a Crocodile Dundee knife and Blu-Ray set.Need to get my Safari mojo on. Safari is an odd choice, I'm not sure a Leica with a 35 is much of a wildlife/birding set up. But I suppose one could play bait and get some interesting shots of a croc with a 35mm up close. colonel Posted March 8, 2015 Share #48 Posted March 8, 2015 Does it have to be used on a Safari ? It could but it doesn't mean the panda M8 needs to be used in the zoo. Just a fun colour and they are all sold out with the Kravitz edition. If Leica issue a special edition every month and use it to fund development of the M or any other camera that's fine with me
pico Posted March 8, 2015 Share #49 Posted March 8, 2015 I'm waiting for the brassed Lenny Kravitz Safari with woven African grass strap. Oh gosh, I will need an entirely new field wardrobe. Should I get cargo trousers? .
wattsy Posted March 8, 2015 Share #50 Posted March 8, 2015 Just a fun colour and they are all sold out with the Kravitz edition. I don't know about the kravitz but the safari is easily obtainable and certainly isn't sold out. Are you just making stuff up? The same nonsense was said about the M60 but that was also available to order without any difficulty for some time after it was announced.

Herr Barnack Posted March 30, 2015 Share #53 Posted March 30, 2015 That's not a knife, this is: Amazon.com : Fallkniven Northern Light Series Tor Knife : Hunting Knives : Sports & Outdoors NL1L If I would buy the Safari, I would buy this Knife too. Fallkniven makes some very nice knives - but as a compliment to the Safari kit, how about this little jewel with a set of green micarta grips: Survivor | Koster Knives
Manoleica Posted March 30, 2015 Share #54 Posted March 30, 2015 I ordered and received my Safari Set, sadly both the camera and lens had issues. According to Leica Wetzlar, their are no replacements available.. I accepted a M-P240 in chrome with a new chrome 35mm Cron. Great service by B&H. Herr Barnack Posted March 30, 2015 Share #55 Posted March 30, 2015 Back to Keith's original post for a minute: Leica Announces Leica M-P (Typ 240) Safari Set with Silver 35mm f/2 ASPH This announcement came out on February 20. It's now 37 days on and my understanding is that the 1500 Safari kits that had been made are nearly sold out - as in 90% gone. It sounds as if sales of the Safari set have been rather lively. That tells something about the commitment of the worldwide clan of Leica connoisseurs...

If I had still been a prospective buyer when the Safari was announced I probably would have bought one.
Herr Barnack Posted April 5, 2015 Share #59 Posted April 5, 2015 I thought it was a bit humorous that my April 2015 issue of LFI magazine arrived three days ago with an article heralding the arrival of the Safari set. The timing of LFI's announcement is a bit comical, given that last week my Leica dealer told me that the Safari sets are about 90% sold out at this point - around a month from the date they started to hit dealer's shelves. Late to the party much, LFI?
