rob_x2004 Posted May 15, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted May 15, 2007 Thanks. Its a few kilometres hike outside Bagaanar, is probably the closest spelling. I am usually pretty good with horizons and I berated myself for not being able to shoot this one straight. Then I noticed the power poles were pretty well plumb, so maybe I did shoot it straight and it is just the afternoon shadow line and the roll of the plain down to the river ten klicks away. Film is Asia grade Konica Centuria 100. Seems big Mongolia, you can buy it just off the Square in Ulaanbataar. It was very expensive.....or not:o. Home scan on Minolta 5400II. R24Elmarit '96. christoph_d Posted May 15, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 15, 2007 Hi Rob, I very much like this picture (it somehow reminds me of the Pampas ). In my view the colours, pose and composition fit together extremely well. The Horizon is a bit strange, but does not disturb me. Best regards, C. Guest Stefan R. Posted May 15, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 15, 2007 Hello Rob, I like the small ones a lot, they are more "out of life" the first ones is good, maybe a little too much staged.
kuddel Posted May 15, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 15, 2007 Rob, all three pictures are strong and good, but the first one is the best in my opinion. Regards, Andreas
rob_x2004 Posted May 15, 2007 Author Share #16 Posted May 15, 2007 I probably should have rattled off a couple of shots rather than just the one. I also found people react badly to an R9. They shape up a bit to it, rather than relax. Now if I had an M at the time:D. I dont think I will travel again with an R9. Nice camera but...too many deficiencies and I am not good enough to overcome them. Some places in Asia I found people were actually gun shy, not camera shy, of cameras. It makes you think. Compositionally it might have improved if the calf was up towards the herdsman. Pretty unusual for these people ever lay eyes on a westerner. We had no language and I just rocked up uninvited in the middle of nowhere. So he has done pretty well keeping his cool. Better than I shot him. imported_peter_m Posted May 15, 2007 Share #17 Posted May 15, 2007 Rob, The two additional shots are nice as well and all three are a nice slice of life. As for the composition on the first one its perfect as it is. The calf is right in the right spot..... unless you wanted a bit more action Peter
