I am sure this is the case. Â However, the Leica website shows a 28mm Elmarit-M with the E46 threaded version : Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH. // M-Lenses // Leica M // Photography - Leica Camera AG. 01af Posted February 10, 2015 Share #2  Posted February 10, 2015 If you definitely want new then the Elmarit-M 28 mm Asph 11606 is the way to go but if you want to save some money then a secondhand Elmarit-M 28 mm V4 is also a very very good lens.  There are no bad Leica lenses and any "improvements" between newer and older lenses are pretty much only at pixel-peeping level. As a matter of fact, there is not much difference between the Elmarit-M 28 mm (E46, V4) and the Elmarit-M 28 mm Asph (E39, V5) with regard to sharpness. The latter uses the aspherical design not so much for an improvement of performance but for a reduction of size. Normally, the bigger lens is the better lens, everything else being equal (that's why the Zeiss Otus 55 mm is so huge). If you want a smaller lens but keep the level of performance the same then you'll have to put more effort in the design. That's what the Asph in the V5 is for.  Also the V3 (filter size E49) is a good user lens. In its day—which basically was the '70s—it was considered 'the World's best 28 mm wide-angle lens for 35-mm-format cameras.' And it is still very good by today's standards ... even though the V4 and V5 (and the Summicron-M 28 mm Asph, too) set the bar even higher.  Versions 1 and 2 are collectors' items more than user lenses. Tiny, light, sharp and nothing wrong with how it renders for my purposes (on the MM). I would love to have a play with a 28mm Elmarit V4 though, just to compare.
