Advertisement Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Blackpool, Tower Ballroom No. 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted May 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2007 Steve - A completely different feel to #1, and it makes me thing of "Strictly Ballroom" (rent it if you haven't seen it). Much more serious, static and moody than the first, but excellent in its own right.

azzo Posted May 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2007 Another stunner Steve, IMHO. The bottom right silhouetted couple make the image. Nicely captured. Azzo

wattsy Posted May 15, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2007 That's a very fine shot indeed. Nice to see some proper black (and white) rather than just a bunch of different greys in a B&W shot

robert_parker Posted May 15, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2007 Steve I like the foreground couple who are just out and the background couple who are just in - this works very well in B+W
knipse_olivia Posted May 15, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 15, 2007 the empty space left gives power to the couples on the right side. strong picture.
stunsworth Posted May 15, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted May 15, 2007 Thanks everyone. Oliver, you've identified why I liked this shot so much.
knipse_olivia Posted May 16, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 16, 2007 Steve, would you explain how did you that so "filmy"? It looks like TriX tantalized in microphen... Oliver
andybarton Posted May 16, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 16, 2007 Not much more to be said, Steve, apart from i know someone in Blackpool who is looking for "Blackpool" shots. (We may have discussed this before) Email me if you want to know more.
stunsworth Posted May 16, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted May 16, 2007 Oliver, I used the Alien Skin Exposure plug-in with its Tri-X setting. I then tweaked the curves a little make the blacks deeper. I also cloned out a couple of areas in the bottom and top where there was still some detail to be seen - I wanted the shadows to be entirely black. knipse_olivia Posted May 16, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 16, 2007 good tip. I just downloaded the demo and play around with it! Thanks, Oliver
stunsworth Posted May 16, 2007 Author Share #16 Posted May 16, 2007 One tip Oliver. If you decide to buy the plug-in the best option is to go for the physical media rather than download. The CD that you get has both the Mac and PC versions on it, where as with the download you only get the one version depending on which OS you choose. This might be important if you use both types of machine or feel you mach change machines in the near future.
knipse_olivia Posted May 16, 2007 Share #17 Posted May 16, 2007 Steve, that´s a good tip, too. I´m fascinated by the options I have using it. Even that it´s possible to create processing to films that cease to exist. Oliver
