Jeff S Posted February 17, 2015 Share #61 Posted February 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) No time to argue with you, am out shooting with the M60:p. No wonder you don't want another screen….too busy staying connected to the web on your mobile device while 'out shooting'. Doesn't that thing also have a camera? rosuna Posted February 17, 2015 Share #63 Posted February 17, 2015 Is the M60 thinner than the M9 or M420?
IkarusJohn Posted February 17, 2015 Author Share #64 Posted February 17, 2015 Is the M60 thinner than the M9 or M420? No. Can't compare it to the M(240), but it is thicker than the M9.
IkarusJohn Posted February 17, 2015 Author Share #65 Posted February 17, 2015 Please tell us you put it in a case with a strap….that would be the ultimate irony. Jeff Why? Strap, no strap. Who cares how it is attached?

Ecaton Posted February 17, 2015 Share #67 Posted February 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the M60 thinner than the M9 or M420? Same as the M240.
Jeff S Posted February 17, 2015 Share #68 Posted February 17, 2015 Why? Strap, no strap. Who cares how it is attached? I wrote case and a strap. I personally don't care, but it would be ironic if you chose an alternative M primarily because it's unencumbered with screen, strap/lugs and anything that 'gets in the way' of shooting...and presumably because of its sleek appearance... then put a thick covering over it with a strap. Any M user could do that and the screen could easily be hidden. Even if that's not the case (so to speak), I already noted the irony given that you actually find yourself shooting less now. You seem to think more about its lack of features, its looks and its potential for damage, than I do about just using my simple M, without thinking much about it at all. I don't even remember unboxing my camera….who cares? Jeff
IkarusJohn Posted February 17, 2015 Author Share #69 Posted February 17, 2015 Way too many presumptions there, Steve. I do agree with your last statement, though. Who indeed cares?
Jeff S Posted February 17, 2015 Share #70 Posted February 17, 2015 Way too many presumptions there, Steve. I do agree with your last statement, though. Who indeed cares? The name is Jeff. And you already agreed earlier with the biggest irony. Who cares about unboxing? You do...enough to start a thread about it. Jeff
IkarusJohn Posted February 17, 2015 Author Share #71 Posted February 17, 2015 Sorry , Jeff. I'm afraid your point rather escapes me. I'm enjoying my new camera, and other members were interested. You're not. That's fine.
Jeff S Posted February 18, 2015 Share #72 Posted February 18, 2015 Actually I was interested in your reasons for the attraction, hence all the dialogue. Carry on. Jeff
IkarusJohn Posted February 18, 2015 Author Share #73 Posted February 18, 2015 I didn't get that at all. Well, I like the user interface, the simplicity of operation and the reduction of electronic stuff to the bare minimum. So far, the familiarity to the film photography of my past is the main attraction. I'm not bothered by the size, weight, thickness and I really don't give a toss about strap lugs. It's nice without the half case, and nice with it. Oddly, I do find it complements the Monochrom well, just providing raw files. I haven't come to grips with the files yet - I've just been too busy at work. Also, I've realised my post processing skills are rubbish. So, bit of a challenge, but very enjoyable so far. I see no reason why the files would differ in any way to the M(240) files - I don't have an M(240), so I don't know. I do know that I'm enjoying using it for all the reasons it appears you wouldn't, and for all the reasons I don't want an M(240). As I've said before, the only thing I might have preferred is a threaded release button. I can check the battery level and SD card info at the press of a button, and yes I like the brief indication of the remaining images available after I've taken an image. Main appeal, no movies, no JPGs, no menus, no LCD. Doesn't work for you? Cool - why should I worry.

IkarusJohn Posted February 18, 2015 Author Share #77 Posted February 18, 2015 I thought it was scorn and mockery, but then there's more energy than you would expect for that.
tookaphotoof Posted February 18, 2015 Share #78 Posted February 18, 2015 Just enjoy the camera and use it with a 64GB sd card so you don't need the info button. Not having an LCD screen, so I'm guessing you don't even need a spare battery unless it freezes outside?
IkarusJohn Posted February 18, 2015 Author Share #79 Posted February 18, 2015 No, don't have a spare battery, and card capacity isn't an issue.
