I am very happy owner of a d-lux 3 I bought only one month ago.

The camera performed very well and I get some astonishing results in term of color saturation and details.

This until today when surprisingly I discovered the camera does not show anything else than menu and options on the display. I think I have a dead sensor.:(

Anyone else experienced such a problem before?

Unfortunately, yes...

I think you're the fourth or fifth in this forum now (or even more?).

I / we had this problem, too...

We brought the camera to service, got a new one and that one ist working well again :)

Count me in as well, D-Lux3 dead. Leica USA says send it in. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Any feedback on how long it takes to get them returned?

My M8 has been at Solms for 4 weeks and no sign of its return yet - no replacement offered, not even temporarily - its not a very impressive way to treat customers.

I´m flying to Germany soon and I will like to buy there a D-Lux3, but I´m afraid for the troubles about that camera exposed in this forum. My heard is with Leica, but perhaps the Lumix LX2 (the DLux 3 sister) may be free of all that problems.Your advise, please, and many thanks in advance.

Hector.

Lumix means head rules heart

Leica means heart rules head (and wallet).

You decide.

It is extremely unlikely that there is any difference in that respect between the two.

I found myself in the same position this morning.

Options menue working, playing old pictures but sudden death on the sensor.

My dealer will send it to Leica - according to the service hotline they are not replacing the full body, I'll just get a new sensor ...

Let's see how long it's gonna take them to send it back.

Hello Paolo,

I hope and wish you that it becomes better with the unique exchange of the sensor:o . I already heard of such problems. The introduction on the market of the Digilux 3 came very fast in my opinion. The competition probably still accelerated this. And in such a way it will give probably soon a successor.

Greeting

Wolfgang

How about posting serial numbers of these defective cameras? I bought one each for my wife and oldest daughter and we gave one to my wife's sister for her 40th birthday, all within the last 2 months. I'm just wondering if there is a bad batch of sensors or if all of them are ticking time-bombs.
