bobbywise Posted January 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, My Monochrom arrived from Italy today. Am I right in thinking that uncompressed DNG is only available from within the SET menu if you do the following "button dance": Delete once up twice down four times left three times right three times info once With Well Wishes, Rob

jaapv Posted January 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 5, 2015 I cannot check right now, but I only shoot the MM uncompressed and never went into the service menu, ever.
bobbywise Posted January 5, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted January 5, 2015 So if I choose the DNG and JPG (fine) option, the DNG is uncompressed ?
Lenshacker Posted January 5, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 5, 2015 The M Monochrom does not offer compressed DNG, it shoots Uncompressed DNG when DNG is selected. I would avoid using the Button dance on the M9 and M Monochrom. It produces uncompressed DNG files without bad-pixels mapped out with a different file extension. At High-ISO, it stores the black level file and takes longer to write to the SD card. If you get these files, simply rename them the ".dng" to process them in LR or whatever you use. Button dance on the M8- the only way to get uncompressed files, but reverts after every power cycle.
mjh Posted January 6, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 6, 2015 So if I choose the DNG and JPG (fine) option, the DNG is uncompressed ? Yep. Leica‘s lossy compression scheme isn’t suitable for monochrome raw data so this isn‘t offered as an option.
