Advertisement Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Hi lct, Take a look here M (240) Electronic malfunction?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thighslapper Posted December 28, 2014 Share #22 Posted December 28, 2014 Ict and Pop: Based on what you have said about possible 'contact' issues, I removed the battery and SD card and used my blower - just incase there was any dust etc. I replaced the SD card and battery, and the camera immediately came to life . So it looks as though I may have had some dust or something either within the battery or SD holding places. This is great (many thanks for the idea), but leaves me uncertain whether i should have it serviced (bought new in June 2014), or just put this down to an unfortunate experience/piece of bad luck? I used to have regular problems with a previous Nikon due to dirty contacts . I used to put solvent ( anything like lens cleaner that evaporates quickly will do) on the card contacts and then insert/remove several times, clean and repeat. That used to work fine. The battery contacts are easily cleanable direct with cotton buds. I wouldn't bother with sending it in unless the problem persists/recurs....
