Numbers Posted December 19, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted December 19, 2014 That is what the Nordic distributor told me recently as well.
bocaburger Posted December 19, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted December 19, 2014 LOL they could lower prices 28% and it would still be way more than I'm willing to pay. Thankfully there are a lot of people whose fortunes and/or priorities are such that they consider Leica gear worth whatever Leica decides to ask...and thankfully a lot of those people are somewhat fickle when it comes to photo gear. So there's always plenty of barely-touched Leica gear on the used market. Win-win-win.
ayewing Posted December 19, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted December 19, 2014 A price rise for the M240 seems odd when it has been discounted at most dealers recently and subject to special offers. Ffordes Photographic
wda Posted December 19, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted December 19, 2014 They are Euro prices; different prices might apply in the UK depending on exchange rates etc.
fotoism Posted December 19, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted December 19, 2014 I guess Leica has to find ways to recoup some of the losses incurred repairing M9 sensors for free.
timde Posted December 19, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted December 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Its also odd if you follow the 2nd hand market when prices for the M240 have become a lot more affordable in recent months. My salary would need to increase 10% each year on year to keep up with these annual price increases ... not an encouraging trend. Â Meanwhile Sony does something interesting that changes the game a little. Na ja.
james.liam Posted December 19, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted December 19, 2014 According to La Vida Leica!, these are Euro prices and probably reflect the decline in the currency these past few months. Can only imagine what they will cost in rubles... Â In the US, there have been steep discounts and a proliferation of QM2 samples as well for even less. A US dealer was offering a 50 Lux for $3000, an MM for $6000 and 50 APO for $7300. All with the 3-year passport warranty. Most of these are now gone. The sizable discounts for the NIB bodies and lenses runs until the end of January.

semi-ambivalent Posted December 19, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted December 19, 2014 28%+ for the 50mm Summicron. Looks like too many people thought it was a nice refuge from Summilux prices. Leica has an answer for that... Â A pity, this will percolate down to used prices. s-a
padam Posted December 20, 2014 Share #11 Â Posted December 20, 2014 The Summicron retail was already at 1900 Euros since a few months so it is a bit misleading. In Germany there is a 250 Euro cashback until January.
indergaard Posted December 20, 2014 Share #12 Â Posted December 20, 2014 Thanks for the info! I'll hold on to my lenses for 1-2 months extra before I sell them, as it seems 2nd hand value has reached a new low here in the last 3 months. This increase should hopefully get the 2nd hand prices up to normal values.

250swb Posted December 21, 2014 Share #16  Posted December 21, 2014 My local Leica Dealer is selling the M240 with £500 instant cashback, making it £4150, so it must be a UK wide offer. A further sign that something new is on the horizon for later in the year.  Steve

Ecaton Posted December 21, 2014 Share #18 Â Posted December 21, 2014 The Premium for the RF experience widens and the penalty for slightly long in the tooth electronics and sensor goes up. A Sony A7II with late 2014 technology is priced at $1698. It will depreciate quickly, 50% or so, but so will a $8000 RF.
Ecaton Posted December 21, 2014 Share #19 Â Posted December 21, 2014 dumb question from an American --> do the EURO prices indicated in the link reflect VAT or would the VAT of the relevant local country be added to this?
